The Union of Textile, Clothing and Leather Workers (german: Gewerkschaft Textil-Bekleidung-Leder, GTBL) was a trade union representing workers in a variety of related industries in Austria. The union was founded in 1945 by the Austrian Trade Union Federation. Its membership fell over the years, and by 1998, was only 18,439. Union Of Metal, Mining And Energy
The Union of Metal, Mining and Energy (german: Gewerkschaft Metall-Bergbau-Energie, GMBE) was a trade union representing blue collar workers in Austria. The union was founded by the Austrian Trade Union Federation in 1945. It was the federation's largest affiliate until 1978, when it was overtaken by the Union of Private Sector Employees. By 1998, it had 205,898 members, with 90% in the metal trades, and most of the remaining 10% working in mining and quarrying. In iron and steel works, it had almost 100% membership. The Metal-Textile Union (german: Gewerkschaft Metall-Textil, GMT) was a trade union representing manufacturing workers and miners in Austria. The union was founded in 2000, when the Union of Metal, Mining and Energy (GMBE) merged with the Union of Textile, Clothing and Leather Workers. The union was led by Rudolf Nürnberger, former president of the GMBE. In 2002, the union began sharing offices in Vienna with the Union of Agriculture, Food and Allied Industries. Harald Ettl (born 7 December 1947 in Gleisdorf, Styria) is an Austrian politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 1996 until 2009. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party, which is part of the Party of European Socialists. During his time in Parliament, Ettle served on the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs.
