Union Chapel, Brighton
The Union Chapel, also known as the Union Street Chapel, Elim Free Church, Four Square Gospel Tabernacle or Elim Tabernacle of the Four Square Gospel, is a former chapel in the centre of Brighton, a constituent part of the city of Brighton and Hove, England. After three centuries of religious use by various congregations, the chapel—which had been Brighton's first Nonconformist place of worship—passed into secular use in 1988 when it was converted into a pub. It was redesigned in 1825, at the height of Brighton's Georgian building boom, by at least one of the members of the Wilds–Busby architectural partnership, Brighton's pre-eminent designers and builders of the era, but may retain some 17th-century parts. It has been listed at Grade II in view of its architectural importance. Union Chapel, Islington
Union Chapel is a working church, live entertainment venue and charity drop-in centre for the homeless in Islington, London, England. Built in the late 19th century in the Gothic revival style, the church is Grade I-listed. It is at the north end of Upper Street, near Highbury Fields. As a venue Union Chapel hosts live music, film, spoken word and comedy events. There are around 250 events per year. It was voted London's Best Live Music Venue by readers of '' Time Out'' magazine in 2002, 2012 and again in 2014. It has a reputation for great acoustics, thanks to its design. Pine Orchard Union Chapel is a historic nondenominational chapel at 25 Chapel Drive in Branford, Connecticut. Built in 1897, it is one of a modest number of seasonal resort chapels built along the Connecticut coastline, and a particularly fine example of one with Queen Anne styling. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Description and history The Pine Orchard Union Chapel is located in the Pine Orchard summer resort area of eastern Branford, at the junction of Chapel Drive and Pine Orchard Street. It is a modest wood frame building, with a flared gable roof whose eaves have exposed rafter tails. A small belfry stands atop the roof, and there is bargeboard and latticework decoration in the gable ends. The interior consists of a small vestibule, and a large open sanctuary, with timbered roof trusses exposed, pine floors and wainscoting, and brass chandeliers. The East Raymond Union Chapel is a historic chapel at 394 Webbs Mills Road in East Raymond, Maine. Built in 1890, it is a modest wood-frame building with Queen Anne and Gothic Revival styling. It has served as a non-denominational religious meeting place for much of its time; it is now affiliated with the United Church of Christ and the Casco Village Church in Casco. It has scheduled services during the summer. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. Union Chapel (or the Oak Bluffs Christian Union Chapel) is an historic octagon-shaped church building in Oak Bluffs, on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. The church was built in 1870 as a non-sectarian worship space in an area dominated by the Methodist summer camp meeting known as Wesleyan Grove. Acquired in 2002 by the nonprofit Martha's Vineyard Preservation Trust, the building continues to be used for nonsectarian religious services, and also serves as a community center and performing arts space. Union Chapel is a historic chapel in Hillsborough, New Hampshire. Completed in 1887, it has been a center of local civic life since then, and is architecturally a distinctive local example of Stick/Eastlake design. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2006.
