Carlo Vanzina
Carlo Vanzina (13 March 1951 – 8 July 2018) was an Italian film director, producer and screenwriter. Vanzina was born in Rome, the son of Maria Teresa Nati and film director Stefano Vanzina and brother of Enrico Vanzina. In English-speaking countries, he is likely best known for his 1985 giallo '' Nothing Underneath'', starring Donald Pleasence and Renee Simonsen, which received a substantial home video release and aired on cable frequently. He would effectively remake his own film in 2011 as ''The Last Fashion Show'' with Richard E. Grant. Many of his projects were made for Italian television with English-speaking actors, and in turn these films received English-language home video releases in America. Calogero Alessandro Augusto Calà, known by his stage name Jerry Calà (born 28 June 1951), is an Italian actor, filmmaker, comedian and singer who has written, directed, and acted in multiple film and television projects. Umberto Smaila (born 26 June 1950) is an Italian actor, composer, comedian, television personality, entrepreneur, and musician. Born in Verona to an Istrian family, in the early-1970s Smaila co-founded together with Jerry Calà, Franco Oppini and Ninì Salerno a cabaret-ensemble, "I gatti di Vicolo Miracoli". The group, reduced to three components since 1982 following Calà's departure, appeared on several successful TV programs and films and released several songs, including the hit singles "Verona Beat" and "Singer Solitude". After the disbandment of the group Smaila was the television presenter of a number of quiz and variety shows, most notably the late night show . Diego Abatantuono (born 20 May 1955) is an Italian cinema and theatre actor, and screenwriter, three-time winner of the Nastro d'Argento. Biography and career Abatantuono was born in Milan to a father of Apulian origin and a mother from Como.
