Ulsan National Institute Of Science And Technology
Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, simply referred to as UNIST (), is one of the four public universities in South Korea which are dedicated to research in science and technology, along with KAIST, GIST, and DGIST. UNIST was founded in 2007 in response to growing demand for higher education in the Korean industrial capital of Ulsan, where world-renowned automotive (Hyundai Motor), shipbuilding (Hyundai Heavy Industries), petrochemical ( SK Energy), and secondary cells industries are clustered. Eonyang
Eonyang is an ''eup'', or large village, in Ulju-gun, a largely rural district of Ulsan, South Korea. It is near the Seoknam Nun's Temple. It has a traditional market every five days. Education Eonyang is home to two public schools which focus on science and technology. UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) is a university emphasizing science and technology. As of April 2012, the school has a teaching staff of 184, and a student population of more than 3,800. Ulsan Science High School is a selective public boarding high school which focuses on the sciences. It is located in Sangbuk-myeon (상북면), near Eonyang. Founded in 2006, the school has advanced facilities and a large campus which is situated in a secluded, mountainous environment. Myung Kyungjae
Myung Kyungjae is a biologist researching DNA repair pathways at the molecular level. He is a Distinguished Professor at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) and the Director of the IBS Center for Genomic Integrity located on the UNIST campus. He is on the editorial board of various peer-reviewed journals and is a member of multiple scientific societies. Education Majoring in zoology, Myung received his bachelor's from Seoul National University (SNU) graduating with honors in 1991. Continuing at SNU, he then majored in molecular biology and graduated with a M.S. in 1993 after studying under Professor Sang Dai Park. Steve Granick is an American scientist and educator. In 2023 he will join the University of Massachusetts-Amherst as the Robert Barrett Chair of Polymer Science and Engineering, with joint appointment in the Chemistry, Physics, and Chemical Engineering Departments after serving as director of the Institute for Basic Science Center for Soft and Living Matter, an interdisciplinary blue-sky research center in Ulsan, South Korea that pursues basic science research. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Education Granick obtained his B.A. in Sociology from Princeton University in 1978 by correspondence and after initially dropping out during his Junior year. The Institute for Basic Science (IBS; ) is a Korean government-funded research institute that conducts basic science research and relevant pure basic research. IBS was established in November 2011 by the Lee Myung-bak administration as a research institute, later be a core of the International Science and Business Belt (ISBB) upon relocation of their headquarters from a rented property to their own campus in January 2018 using land reclaimed from the Taejŏn Expo '93 in Expo Science Park.
