Ulken Kundyzdy
The Ulken Kundyzdy ( kk, Үлкен Құндызды) is a river in the Sarybel and Nura districts, Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan. It is long and has a catchment area of . The Ulken Kundyzdy river is one the main tributaries of the Nura. It freezes between November and April. Course The Ulken Kundyzdy has its sources in the Kazakh Uplands, a little to the north of Kunduzdy village, northwest of Temirtau. It originates on the southern slopes of Mount Koyandy and flows roughly southwestwards and westwards along its course. Nura, Nura District
Nura ( kk, Нұра), until 2017 "Kievka", is a village in Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan. It is the administrative center of the Nura District (KATO code - 355230100). Temirtau
Temirtau ( kz, Теміртау, translit=Temırtau; russian: Темиртау) is a city in the Karaganda Region of Kazakhstan. The population was 170,481 in the 1999 census, rising to 210,590 in 2015. The city is located on the Nura River (the Samarkand Reservoir), northwest of Karaganda. History The first groups of settlers to settle in the area were 40 families from Samara (see Stolypin reform), who settled on the left bank of the Nura River on 15 June 1905. The settlement they founded was named Zhaur (''Жаур''), after a hill on the other side of the river. In 1909 the settlement was renamed Samarkandsky (''Самаркандский'', or Samarkand for short). A gudgeon is a socket-like, cylindrical (i.e., ''female'') fitting attached to one component to enable a pivoting or hinging connection to a second component. Meander
A meander is one of a series of regular sinuous curves in the channel of a river or other watercourse. It is produced as a watercourse erodes the sediments of an outer, concave bank ( cut bank) and deposits sediments on an inner, convex bank which is typically a point bar. The result of this coupled erosion and sedimentation is the formation of a sinuous course as the channel migrates back and forth across the axis of a floodplain. The zone within which a meandering stream periodically shifts its channel is known as a meander belt. It typically ranges from 15 to 18 times the width of the channel. Karaganda Region
Karaganda Region ( kk, Qarağandy oblysy; russian: Карагандинская область, translit=Karagandinskaja oblast′), also spelled Qaraghandy Region, is a region of Kazakhstan. Its capital is Karaganda. On 17 March 2022 it was announced that Karaganda would be divided, with the formation of the Ulytau Region. This officially came into force on 8 June 2022.
