Ukrainian Frigate Hetman Sahaidachny
''Hetman Sahaidachny'' ( uk, Гетьман Сагайдачний, translit=Hetman Sahaidachnyi) was a frigate of the Ukrainian Navy that was originally built at the Kerch Shipyard as a Project 1135.1 patrol ship of the Nerei / Krivak III / Menzhinskiy class. She was launched on 29 March 1992 and commissioned on 2 April 1993. Homeported at Odesa since March 2014, she was the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy. Her major armament was a single 100 mm gun. She was scuttled by Ukraine on 4 March 2022 to prevent her falling into the hands of invading Russian forces. Service history Built at the Zalyv Shipbuilding yard, the ship was intended to be used by the Soviet Border Troops as ''Kirov''. The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history.
