Uganda Men's National Field Hockey Team
The Uganda men's national field hockey team represents Uganda in men's international field hockey competitions and is controlled by the Uganda Hockey Association, the governing body for field hockey in Uganda. Uganda has participated once at the Summer Olympics in 1972 when they finished 15th. Uganda Hockey Association
The Uganda Hockey Association is the governing body of field hockey in Uganda. It is affiliated to IHF International Hockey Federation and AHF African Hockey Federation. The headquarters of the Association are in Kampala, Uganda. Philip Wafula Mulindo is the President of Uganda Hockey Association and Stanley Tamale is the General Secretary. History 6th Men Field Hockey Africa Nations Cup In 13 to 20 May 2000, the Uganda national team played the 6th Men's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, which classified the winner for the World Cup. Participating countries were South Africa, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia, and Uganda. 16 Ugandan players took part in the competition; the trainer was the Italian international goalkeeper Damian Angió. The Fédération Internationale de Hockey (English: International Hockey Federation), commonly known by the acronym and initialism, acronym FIH, is the international governing body of field hockey and indoor field hockey. The 2023 Men's African Olympic Qualifier was the fifth edition of the Men's African Olympic Qualifier, African qualification tournament for the men's Field hockey at the Summer Olympics, field hockey event at the Summer Olympics. 2019 Men's African Olympic Qualifier
The 2019 Men's African Olympic Qualifier was the fourth edition of the African qualification tournament for the men's field hockey event at the Summer Olympics. It was held alongside the women's tournament in Stellenbosch, South Africa from 12 to 18 August 2019. The winner of the tournament qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics. 2007 African Olympic Field Hockey Qualifier
The 2007 African Olympic Qualifier was the first edition of the African field hockey qualification tournament for the Summer Olympics for men and women. It was held from 14 to 22 July 2007 in Nairobi, Kenya. 2022 Men's Hockey Africa Cup Of Nations
The 2022 Men's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations was the 11th edition of the Men's Hockey Africa Cup of Nations, the quadrennial international men's field hockey championship of Africa organised by the African Hockey Federation. In February 2021 it was announced that the tournament would be held alongside the women's tournament at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra, Ghana from 17 to 23 January 2022. South Africa were the defending champions, winning the 2017 edition. They successfully defended their title after being Egypt in the final. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick.
