USS Chicot (AK-170)
USS Chicot (AK-170) was an commissioned by the US Navy for service in World War II. She was responsible for delivering troops, goods and equipment to locations in the war zone. Construction ''Chicot'' was launched 16 July 1944, by Froemming Brothers, Inc., Milwaukee, Wisconsin, under a Maritime Commission contract, MC hull 2143; sponsored by Mrs. F. Marasco; acquired by the Navy 13 March 1945; and commissioned 4 April 1945. Chicot County ( ) is a county located in the southeastern corner of the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,800. The county seat is Lake Village. Subic Bay is a bay on the west coast of the island of Luzon in the Philippines, about northwest of Manila Bay. An extension of the South China Sea, its shores were formerly the site of a major United States Navy facility, U.S. Naval Base Subic Bay, now an industrial and commercial area known as the Subic Bay Freeport Zone under the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. Manus Island is part of Manus Province in northern Papua New Guinea and is the largest of the Admiralty Islands.
