USS Arcturus (AK-12)
USS ''Gold Star'' (AK-12) was a U.S. Navy cargo ship that saw service before and during World War II. She was responsible for delivering necessary goods and equipment to ships and stations in the war zone. Renamed ''Gold Star'' ''Gold Star'' (AK-12) was built in 1920 by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp., Wilmington, Delaware: taken over by the Navy as ''Arcturus'' from the USSB 8 November 921 commissioned as ''Arcturus'' (AK-12) on 1 February 1922 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and five days later renamed ''Gold Star'' (AK-12) on 6 February. The ship was reclassified AG-12, 12 May 1922. Bethlehem Steel Wilmington
Harlan & Hollingsworth was a Wilmington, Delaware, firm that constructed ships and railroad cars during the 19th century and into the 20th century. Founding Mahlon Betts, a carpenter, arrived in Wilmington in 1812. After helping construct many prominent buildings in the city, Betts branched out into foundry work in 1821. In 1836, Betts partnered with Samuel Pusey (a machinist) and began manufacturing railcars at a plant on West and Water Streets in Wilmington. The next year, cabinetmaker Samuel Harlan joined the firm, then known as Betts, Pusey & Harlan. By 1839, the company claimed to have manufactured 39 passenger and 28 freight cars over the previous two years. The next year, they hired Jacob F. Asiatic Fleet
The United States Asiatic Fleet was a fleet of the United States Navy during much of the first half of the 20th century. Before World War II, the fleet patrolled the Philippine Islands. Much of the fleet was destroyed by the Japanese by February 1942, after which it was dissolved, and the remnants incorporated into the naval component of the South West Pacific Area command, which eventually became the Seventh Fleet. The fleet was created when its predecessor, the Asiatic Squadron, was upgraded to fleet status in 1902. In early 1907, the fleet was downgraded and became the First Squadron of the United States Pacific Fleet. However, on 28 January 1910, it was again organized as the Asiatic Fleet. Malangas, officially the Municipality of Malangas ( Cebuano: ''Lungsod sa Malangas''; Filipino (Tagalog): ''Bayan ng Malangas''; Zamboangueño/Chavacano: ''Municipio de Malangas''), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, Philippines. Pearl Harbor is an American lagoon harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, west of Honolulu. The Chamorro people (; also CHamoru) are the indigenous people of the Mariana Islands, politically divided between the United States territory of Guam and the encompassing Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in Micronesia. Today, significant Chamorro populations also exist in several U.S. states, including Hawaii, California, Washington, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, and Nevada, all of which together are designated as Pacific Islander Americans according to the U.S. Census.
