USM Alger Reserves And Academy
USM Alger Under-23s are the reserve team of USM Alger. The team mainly consists of Under-23 players at the club, although senior players occasionally play in the reserve side, for instance when they are recovering from injury. The Under-23s team are managed by Sylvain Matrisciano and they play in the Ligue Professionnelle 1. History USM Alger is one of the clubs that owns a well-known football school in Algeria. In the seventies the club relied on players who graduated from the club most notably Djamel Zidane and Djamel Keddou who spent all his football career with USM Alger. In the eighties, ninety percent of the squad was from the team, especially in the winning season of the Algerian Cup in 1988. Omar Hamadi Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Bologhine, Algiers, Algeria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of USM Alger. The stadium has a capacity of 17,500 people. History The stadium was built in 1919 as the home ground for l’Association Sportive Saint Eugénoise. It was known as the Stade communal de Saint Eugène. The Algerian Cup ( ar, كأس الجزائر) also known the Republic Cup ( ar, كأس الجمهورية), is a football competition in Algeria, pitting regional teams against each other. It was established in October 1962, three months after independence, and has been played yearly since then apart from 1990 and 1993. The most successful clubs in this competition are USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, ES Setif and MC Alger with eight trophies for each. Hocine Achiou ( ar, حسين عشيو; born April 27, 1979) is a former Algerian footballer. Achiou was a member of the Algeria national team at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations where he scored a wonderful individual goal against rivals Egypt.
