USC Upstate Spartans Baseball
The USC Upstate Spartans baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States. The team is a member of the Big South Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The team plays its home games at Harley Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Spartans are coached by Mike McGuire. Mike McGuire (baseball)
Mike McGuire in an American college baseball coach and former catcher. He is the head baseball coach at the University of South Carolina Upstate. McGuire played college baseball at the University of Akron from 1990 to 1991 and the University of South Carolina from 1992 to 1993 and played semi-professionally in the Frontier League from 1993 to 1994. He served as head coach of the Morehead State Eagles baseball program from 2013 season to 2019. Playing career McGuire played two seasons for Akron before completing his eligibility at South Carolina. He then played two professional seasons with the Independent Zanesville Greys of the Frontier League. Coaching career McGuire began coaching as an assistant for two seasons at Morehead State. The Major League Baseball Draft is the process by which Major League Baseball (MLB) teams select athletes to play for their organization. High school seniors, college juniors and seniors, and anyone who had never played under a professional contract were considered eligible for the draft.
