USC Trojans Women's Volleyball
The USC women's volleyball team is coached by first-year head coach Brad Keller, who was named to the position on February 20, 2020. Under the last coach, Mick Haley, USC became the first repeat NCAA Volleyball National Champion to go undefeated, as they finished off 2003 with a record of 35–0 while becoming the first school in NCAA history to stay at number one in the coaches poll every week. History The program began in 1976. The first coach, Chuck Erbe, led the team to four national championships, 1 NCAA (1981) and three AIAW (1976–77, 1980). Mike Bohn
Michael Robert Bohn (born November 16, 1960) is the athletic director at the University of Southern California. He was hired on November 11, 2019, following the resignation of Lynn Swann. He previously held the same position at the University of Cincinnati, University of Colorado, San Diego State University, and the University of Idaho. Born in Hinsdale, Illinois, Bohn's family moved to Boulder, Colorado, when he was a year old; he was a three-sport athlete at Boulder High School and graduated in 1979. At the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Bohn was a quarterback on the Jayhawks' football team in 1982, and was also on the baseball team in 1982 and 1983. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983, and earned a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University in 1984. 2003 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament
The 2003 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began on December 4, 2003 with 64 teams and ended December 18 when Southern California defeated Florida 3 games to 1 in Dallas, Texas for the program's third NCAA title and sixth national title overall. It was Southern California's second consecutive NCAA title. The team capped off the 2003 season undefeated at 35-0, becoming the third team in NCAA history to accomplish the feat, the first repeat NCAA national champion to go undefeated, and the first team in the NCAA era to be ranked #1 in the coaches poll for the entire season. Florida made the school's first national championship match in the program's seventh final four appearance. Minnesota also made the program's first NCAA final four appearance. 1984 Summer Olympics
The 1984 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXIII Olympiad and also known as Los Angeles 1984) were an international multi-sport event held from July 28 to August 12, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, United States. It marked the second time that Los Angeles had hosted the Games, the first being in 1932. California was the home state of the incumbent U.S. President Ronald Reagan, who officially opened the Games. Debbie Green-Vargas
Debbie Green-Vargas (born June 25, 1958) is a former American volleyball player and coach. She is regarded as the greatest American women's volleyball setter of all time. Green-Vargas was a member of the U.S. National Team and won the silver medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Early life Debbie Green was born in South Korea in 1958. She grew up in California and attended Westminster High School. At the age of 16 Green-Vargas was a part of the Adidas Junior Team which swept the USVBA Nationals. She was named an All-American, the youngest player ever to be so honored. Collegiate career Despite her small stature, Green was a two time All-American setter at USC. She perfected the jump set, allowing her to meet the ball higher in the vertical plane and create a higher tempo in the offense. Nicole Davis (volleyball)
Nicole Marie Davis (born April 24, 1982) is a retired American indoor volleyball player and mindset coach at Compete To Create, founded by Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and high performance psychologist, Michael Gervais. Nicole last played professionally for Le Cannet Rocheville in France and retired in 2015. She is 5'4" (167 cm) and played the libero position. She played for Fenerbahçe Women's Volleyball team for the 2007 season and wore the number 1 jersey. She was the first foreign-born libero to play in the Turkish league and led her team to a second-place finish. Davis represented the United States at the 2008 Olympics and 2012 Olympics, helping Team USA to a silver medal both times. She was also part of the US team that won the 2014 World Championships. Lyon Center
The Lyon Center or Lyon Recreation Center is a student recreational facility and part-time varsity athletics facility located on the campus of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The Lyon Center's full name is the General William Lyon University Center and is named for William Lyon, a former General in the United States Army Air Corps and United States Air Force. The facility is adjacent to the Uytengsu Aquatics Center. History The Lyon Center opened in 1989 as the Student Recreation Center for the University of Southern California. The main gym also serves as a home for the USC Trojans men's and women's varsity volleyball teams. From 1989 to 2006, the North Gym in the USC Physical Education building and the Lyon Center split time as the team's home court. Falyn Fonoimoana
Falyn Talei Fonoimoana (born March 3, 1992) is an American professional indoor and beach volleyball player who plays as an opposite hitting for indoor professional league Athletes Unlimited. She has also represented the U.S. National Team in the 2015 Pan-American Games, earning a gold medal with the team. Personal life Falyn Talei Fonoimoana was born and raised in Hermosa Beach, California. She comes from a diverse ancestral background: she is African American, English, Irish, Austrian, German, Hawaiian, Tahitian, and Samoan. Texas Longhorns Volleyball
The Texas Longhorns women's volleyball team represents The University of Texas at Austin in NCAA Division I intercollegiate women's volleyball competition. The Longhorns currently compete in the Big 12 Conference. Texas has won four volleyball national championships – one AIAW championship in 1981 and three NCAA championships in 1988, 2012, and 2022. Beginning with the 1981 season, they have qualified for the AIAW/NCAA tournament every year except for two (40 of 42 seasons) and the most recent 19 years (2004-2022). The volleyball program was founded in 1974. It has had seven head coaches in its history – the first four lasted just 1–2 years each: Pam Lampley (1974), Cheryl Lyman (1975), Jody Conradt (1976–77) and Linda Lowery (1978-79). Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Volleyball
The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball team is the NCAA Division I women's volleyball team for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. They are a member of the Big West Conference and are led by head coach, Robyn Ah Mow-Santos. The Rainbow Wahine volleyball program remains a large source of financial income for the University of Hawaii athletic department, notwithstanding even what FB and MBB generates. Grandfathered in, and straddling the line between the two governing bodies of the AIAW and NCAA, Joyce Kapuaala-Kaapuni started with Hawaii in 1974 (alongside USAV's 1970 World's participant Beth McLachlin).
