UNRocks
UNRocks is a band made up of diplomats of the United Nations including Simona Miculescu (Romania), Guillermo Rishchynski (Canada), Antonio Pedro Monteiro Lima (Cape Verde), Eduardo Ulibarri (Costa Rica), and Marlene Moses (Nauru). The band collaborates with award-winning composer Gary Fry. History In 2012, Her Excellency, Simona Miculescu, former Romanian Ambassador to the United Nations, founded a band with fellow diplomats and musicians, H.E. Guillermo Rishchynski (Canada), H.E. Antonio Pedro Monteiro Lima (Cape Verde), Eduardo Ulibarri (Costa Rica), and H.E. Marlene Moses (Nauru), representing Europe, North America, Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Pacific Islands. In September 2013, the band released their first album, “Ambassadors Sing for Peace,“ with arrangements and artistic direction by Emmy Award-winning composer Gary Fry, and support from the SAE Institute. Marlene Moses
Her Excellency Marlene Inemwin Moses (born 1961 in Aiwo) is a diplomat and a political and administrative figure from Nauru. She has served since 2005 as the current Nauruan Permanent Representative to the United Nations, with ambassadorial rank, having previously held consular responsibilities in Japan and New Zealand. She is also an expert in health administration. Background and political affiliation Educated at Australian universities, Ms. Moses has for a number of years been associated with the Nauru First Party, along with figures such as Dr. Kieren Keke, who in December 2007 became Foreign Minister in President of Nauru Marcus Stephen's Administration, and David Adeang. Simona Miculescu
Simona-Mirela Miculescu (born 4 July 1959) is a senior Romanian diplomat, currently serving as Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO, with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Prior to this she was Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the UN Office in Belgrade, and before that, the Permanent Representative of Romania to the United Nations in New York. She also served as Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Romania, and is the first woman in Romania's diplomatic history to be granted the rank of Ambassador. Education Miculescu graduated from the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca with a BA in French and English Literature and Language in 1982. Antonio Pedro Monteiro Lima
Antonio Pedro Monteiro Lima (born 5 January 1948) is a Cape Verdean diplomat who was the Permanent Representative to the United Nations for Cape Verde from August 2007 to February 2014. Before working for the UN, Monero Lima held multiple positions in External Affairs from 1975 to 1991. He also was an ambassador for Guinea-Bissau and Algeria between 1982 and 1990. Early life and education On 5 January 1948, Monteiro Lima was born in Dakar, Senegal. For his education, he went to France to attend the University of Paris VIII and the Université de Tours. Career External Affairs During his career, Monterio Lima worked in multiple positions for External Affairs. Eduardo Ulibarri Bilbao (born February 3, 1952) is a Costa Rican journalist. Summary of life Eduardo Ulibarri is a journalist, diplomat, academic and consultant specialized in international affairs and communication strategies. He was born in Remedios, Cuba on February 3, 1952. At the age of 14 he emigrated out of Cuba with his parents towards Costa Rica. He is married to María del Rocío Fernández Salazar, a journalist specialized in cultural affairs, and have two sons: Fernando, a jazz musician, and Daniel, an actor and producer.
