UNC Charlotte 49ers Men's Soccer
The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. As of the upcoming 2022 season, the team is a member of the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference (The American). The team plays their home games at Transamerica Field in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2011, the team reached the championship of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, for the first time in program history. History In 1996, the Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team became the first Conference USA team in any sport to reach the National semi-finals. The Niners won a school record 19 games. They went 7–1 in Conference USA to capture the regular season title. Kevin Langan (born 7 April 1978) is a former professional Association football, footballer and current Head Coach of Charlotte 49ers men's soccer, Charlotte 49ers. Langan was born on Jersey in the Channel Islands and began his football career as a trainee at Bristol City F.C., Bristol City. Mac Cozier
Mac Cozier (born October 23, 1973, in Orange Park, Florida) is a retired American soccer player. He played one season in Major League Soccer, one in the Chilean Second Division, one in USISL and six in the USL First Division. He also earned one cap with the United States national team in 1996. College Cozier attended University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he played on the men's team from 1992 to 1995. His best was 1994 when he was named a first team All-American. He finished his career as the school's all time, fourth on the career goals list and second on the career point. Gabe Garcia (soccer)
Gabriel "Gabe" Garcia is a retired American soccer forward who spent his entire career in the SISL and USISL. He won two USISL championships, both with the Greensboro Dynamo. Youth Garcia attended UNC Charlotte where he played on the men’s soccer team from 1988 to 1992. He was a 1991 second team All American. He finished his four seasons with 39 goals in 77 games. In October 2002, UNC-Charlotte retired Garcia’s jersey at the halftime of the Duke-Charlotte soccer game. Professional In 1991, Garcia, along with his twin brother Carlos, played for the San Antonio Generals during the SISL outdoor season. He scored eight goals in sixteen games that season. Preston Popp (born December 8, 1999) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for North Carolina FC in USL League One. Early life Born in Montreal, Popp is the son of Jim Popp, who was the general manager of the Canadian Football League team Montreal Allouettes at the time. North Carolina Tar Heels Men's Soccer
The North Carolina Tar Heels men's soccer team represents the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in men's NCAA Division I soccer competition. They compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tar Heels won the NCAA championship in 2001 and 2011. History The UNC men's varsity soccer team was founded in 1947 by Dr. Marvin Allen, the team's first coach. Before the team had only been at the club level. Dr. Allen led the team until 1977 when the current UNC women's soccer team coach Anson Dorrance took over. The Creighton Bluejays, or Jays, are the athletic teams that represent Creighton University, a Jesuit/Catholic University in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. The UConn Huskies men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the University of Connecticut. The team is a member of the Big East Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). History Connecticut soccer existed prior to 1969, but was not considered a major sport and did not even have a real stadium. However, in 1969, Joe Morrone was hired as head coach, and made significant changes that would make the Huskies a premiere program. He started by building Connecticut Soccer Stadium, which now bears his name as Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. Eventually, in Morrone's words, the team became "the Notre Dame of college soccer".
