UMBC Retrievers Men's Soccer
The UMBC Retrievers men's soccer team represents the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college soccer competition. UMBC competes as a member of the America East Conference. History UMBC created its soccer team in 1968, three years after the founding of the university. The team's home field, Retriever Soccer Park was completed in the fall of 1998. The stadium center includes a 120-yard by 70-yard field equipped with Bermuda grass. The Retriever's winnings include: the 1999 NEC Regular Season, the 1999 Northeast Conference Men's Soccer Tournament, the America East Tournament in 2010, 2012, and 2013, 2014 and the America East Regular Season in 2003, 2013 and 2014. Pete Caringi III
Peter Anthony Caringi III (born September 24, 1992) is an American soccer player currently playing for Christos FC, a United States Adult Soccer Association team playing in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Early career Caringi played college soccer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County from 2010 to 2013. During his time at college, Caringi appeared for USL PDL club Baltimore Bohemians in 2012 and 2013. Professional Caringi was selected by Montreal Impact in the third round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft (48th overall), but was not signed by the club. Steve Zerhusen is a retired American soccer goalkeeper who played two seasons in the North American Soccer League. Zerhusen attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where he played on the men's soccer team from 1975 to 1978. He is a member of the UMBC Athletic Hall of Fame. Matt Watson (footballer, Born 1985)
Matthew Watson (born 1 January 1985) is an English former professional footballer who will join the coaching staff of FC Tulsa in USL Championship on 1 January 2023. Career College Watson grew up in England, but chose to attend the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in the United States. He played two seasons for the UMBC Retrievers in 2004 and 2005. Following the 2005 season, Watson chose to forgo his final two seasons of collegiate eligibility to turn professional. Brian Rowland (born December 30, 1980) is a Canadian retired soccer player who was a goalkeeper in both the indoor and outdoor versions of the sport. He is currently the head coach for the Temple Owls men's soccer team. Derek Phillips (born 9 April 1975) is an American-born Trinidadian retired footballer who played as a left-sided defender. He has been a member of the Trinidad and Tobago national team. Aquilas Levi Houapeu (born June 22, 1989 in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire) is an Ivorian association football, footballer who currently plays for Maryland Bobcats FC in the National Independent Soccer Association. College and amateur soccer Houapeu attended University of Maryland, Baltimore County between 2007 and 2010.
