UCI Track Cycling World Championships – Women's Omnium
The Women's omnium at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships was first contested in 2009 in Poland. The format of the multi-race endurance event ("Omnium" coming from the Latin ''Omnia'', for all) has evolved rapidly since its introduction in 2009. In its first iteration, the competition consisted of 5 events over a single day; a 'flying lap', a time trial over 200 metres with a rolling start, a scratch race, an individual pursuit time trial, a points race, and a 500 metre time trial. Riders were awarded points to match their placing in each event (1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, etc) and the lowest cumulative score won the competition, with tie-breaks broken by cumulative times in the timed elements of the race. UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are the set of world championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling. They are regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale. Before 1900, they were administered by the UCI's predecessor, the International Cycling Association (ICA). Current events include: time trial, keirin, individual pursuit, team pursuit, points race, scratch race, sprint, team sprint, omnium, madison and elimination race. Women's events are generally shorter than men's. Events which are no longer held include the motor paced events and tandem events. Amy Cure
Amy Louise Cure (born 31 December 1992) is an Australian former professional Track cycling, track cyclist. She cycles for Team Jayco–AIS. She has set several world records. She won a junior world championship race in 2009, and represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She is the first person in history to medal at every endurance track event at world championship level; with three newly gained medals in the team pursuit, omnium, and madison at 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong. While Cure was considered a typical Tasmanian type of racer, with a never-give-up attitude during races, she was considered the latest cycling talent in Tasmania, following legendary 5-time world champion Danny Clark (cyclist), Danny Clark, Olympic gold medallist Michael Grenda and road cyclist Richie Porte. 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships were the World Championships for track cycling in 2017. They took place in Hong Kong in the Hong Kong Velodrome from 12 to 16 April 2017. The last time the championships took place in Asia was at the 1990 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Japan at the Green Dome Maebashi. Bidding Turkmenistan showed their interest in hosting the championships at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Council of Asia General Assembly in September 2015. Laurie Berthon
Laurie Berthon (born 26 August 1991) is a French track cyclist. She represented her nation in four editions of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships (from 2013 to 2016). Berthon competed for France in the women's omnium at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. There, she collected a total score of 163 points to wrap up the six-race series of the competition in tenth position. She announced her retirement from the sport in July 2019. 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships were the World Championships for track cycling in 2016. They took place in London in the Lee Valley VeloPark from 2–6 March 2016. As the last major track cycling event prior to the 2016 Summer Olympics, the championships were particularly important for cyclists and national teams aiming to qualify for the Cycling at the 2016 Summer Olympics, track cycling competitions at Rio 2016. Hosts Great Britain finished top of the medals table with five gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Preparations Tickets prices for the 12 different sessions ranged between £15 and £90, with student and over 60s discounts available. 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships took place in Minsk, Belarus from 20 to 24 February 2013 in the Minsk-Arena. The Championships featured 19 events, the same as 2012. Great Britain, with five gold medals (four in Olympic events), and nine in total topped the medal table. Australia, Germany, France, the United States and Ireland all enjoyed a successful championships. Annette Edmondson
Annette Edmondson (born 12 December 1991) is an Australian former Cycle sport, cyclist who competed on the track with Cycling Australia's High Performance Unit (HPU). She also competed on the road for the team between 2015 and 2018. Her greatest successes were the three gold medals she won at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in the omnium and team pursuit, a competition in which she also secured further silver medals in the omnium (2012) and team pursuit (2012 and 2013). Edmondson also competed in the London 2012 Olympics, securing a bronze medal for Australia in the women's Omnium and finishing in fourth place in the Team pursuit.
