Team Sprint
The team sprint (also sometimes known as the Olympic sprint) is a track cycling event. Despite its name, it is not a conventional cycling sprint event – it is a three-rider team time trial held over three laps of a velodrome. The current men's world record time is 41.225 seconds. This was set by the Netherlands team of Jeffrey Hoogland, Harrie Lavreysen and Roy van den Berg at the 2020 World Championships. The women's world record of 46.064 seconds was set by the German team of Lea Friedrich, Pauline Grabosch and Emma Hinze at the 2021 World Championships. It was first introduced into championship racing in 1995. The team sprint has been an Olympic event for men since 2000 and for women since 2012. Jason Queally
Jason Paul Queally (born 11 May 1970) is an English track cyclist. He won a gold medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Early years Born at Great Heywood, Staffordshire, Queally spent his childhood in Caton, a village near Lancaster. He attended Caton County Primary School and Lancaster Royal Grammar School, where he was part of the swimming squad in the mid-1980s, later representing Lancaster and British Universities in water polo while a student at Lancaster University, where he earned a BSc in Biological Science. He took up cycle-racing at 25. In 1996, he nearly died in an accident at Meadowbank cycling track in Edinburgh (Chris Hoy brought down all the riders behind him, having caught the wheel of Craig MacLean) when an 18-inch sliver of the wooden track entered his chest via his armpit. Craig MacLean MBE (Grantown-on-Spey, July 31, 1971) is a Scottish track cyclist who has represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, winning a silver medal in the Team Sprint at the 2000 Olympics. As a sighted guide, MacLean returned to the sport in its Paralympic form, piloting Neil Fachie to two gold medals in the 2011 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, and Anthony Kappes to a gold medal in the 2012 Paralympic Games. MacLean is only the second athlete, after Hungarian fencer Pál Szekeres, ever to win medals at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Stefan Nimke (born 1 March 1978 in Hagenow, Bezirk Schwerin) is an Olympic and world champion track cyclist from Germany. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, he won the silver medal in the men's 1 km time trial, and was part of the German men's team that finished 7th in the men's team sprint. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, he won the gold medal in the men's team sprint with Jens Fiedler and René Wolff, and won the bronze medal in the men's 1 km time trial. Graham John Sharman (born 30 May 1938) is an English former first-class cricketer and squash player. Sharman was born in May 1938 at St Pancras. He was educated at Lancing College, where he was coached in cricket by Kenneth Shearwood. From Lancing, he went up to Lincoln College, Oxford. While studying at Oxford, he made two appearances in first-class cricket for Oxford University in 1958, against Yorkshire and Derbyshire at Oxford. Sean Eadie (born 15 April 1969 in Sydney, Australia) is a retired professional track cyclist. He lives in Como, New South Wales. He started cycling at 10 and became a professional in 1990. Despite competitive aggression on the track, he is a "gentle giant" off the track. Prior to becoming a full-time cyclist, Eadie was a kindergarten teacher.
