U137 is a cinematic post-rock duo from Borås, Sweden, consisting of musicians Adam Törnblad and Oscar Gullbrandsen. Borås
Borås ( , , ) is a city (officially, a locality) and the seat of Borås Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 66,273 inhabitants in 2010. Geography Borås is located at the point of two crossing railways, among them the railway between Gothenburg and Kalmar, and is often considered the Swedish city gaining the most from the nationwide railway system laid between 1870 and 1910. History The city of Borås received its privileges in 1621 by King Gustav II Adolf. The reason was to give local pedlars a legal place for vending their merchandise (and for the government the ability to collect taxes on this trade). The city developed soon after it was founded. Deep Elm Records is an independent record label releasing albums by bands such as Lights & Motion, The Appleseed Cast, Brandtson, The White Octave, and Planes Mistaken for Stars. It also released the compilation series ''The Emo Diaries''. History Deep Elm Records started in New York City by John Szuch. Deep Elm's first release was the single "Anthemic Tune" by Curdlefur in 1995. Its first album was by Camber in March 1997. In 2006, Deep Elm Records signed its first UK act, Free Diamonds. By 2008, Deep Elm stopped pressing physical CDs and vinyl, effectively becoming a digital only label. The label has refused to be bought out by a larger company, and is currently located in Maui, Hawaii. ''Vice'' described Deep Elm as "a seminal label for the 90s/early 2000s emo scene". Moonlit Sailor is a post-rock band from Borås, Sweden, formed in 2006. The group consisted of Joakim Wiik (keyboards/guitar), Oscar Gullbrandsen (guitar), Adam Törnblad (drums/guitar/piano), and Markus Rundlöf (bass). In 2008 the band released their debut EP ''A Footprint of Feelings'' through the independent record label Deep Elm Records. The following year they released a full-length album, ''So Close to Life,'' and in 2010 they embarked on a small European tour that included stops in Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Finland. The band released a second album in 2011, ''Colors in Stereo'', also through Deep Elm Records. On May 8, 2017, Törnblad died at the age of 27. Post-rock
Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs. Post-rock artists are often instrumental, typically combining rock instrumentation with electronics. The genre emerged within the indie and underground music scene of the 1980s and early 1990s.
