U.S. Snowboarding, the snowboarding arm of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), is committed to the progression of snowboarding by providing athletic programs, services, and competitions for male and female athletes of all ages, coast-to-coast. Since the inclusion of snowboarding as a medal sport in 1998, U.S. Snowboarding has accounted for 14 Olympic medals, including the sweep of the podium in men’s halfpipe in 2002 and a best in the world performance of seven medals in 2006. The FIS Snowboarding World Championships is the world championship organized by the FIS for Snowboarding. It was first held in 1996 and is now held every odd year. The championship events include Big air, Half-pipe, Parallel giant slalom, Parallel slalom, Slopestyle and Snowboard cross for both genders. Steve Fisher (snowboarder)
Steve Fisher also known as "The Fish" (born September 21, 1982 in Olathe, Kansas) is an American professional snowboarder and the 2004 and 2007 Winter X Games Champion. He was once ranked the #1 halfpipe rider in the United States by the USSA ranking system. Childhood and early snowboarding career Steve grew up in Saint Louis Park, a suburb out of Minneapolis. As a young boy, his home mountain was Buck Hill which was home to one of the first halfpipes in the Midwest. Steve rode at Buck hill every day and night until he was ten years old, saying that he rarely spent any time at home during the winter. He began competing in local competitions at age eight and qualified for USASA nationals by age nine. Rosey Fletcher
Gabrielle Rose "Rosey" Fletcher (born November 30, 1975, in Anchorage, Alaska) is an American three-time Olympian snowboarder. She competed at the 1998 Winter Olympics, the 2002 Winter Olympics, and the 2006 Winter Olympics. Fletcher won the Olympic bronze medal in the 2006 women's Parallel Giant Slalom event. Biography Early years Fletcher grew up in Girdwood, Alaska. She started skiing cross-country, then moved to alpine racing, GS, and Super-G. Then she tried snowboarding and focused on GS. Callan Chythlook-Sifsof (born February 14, 1989) is an American snowboarder who has competed in snowboard cross since 2005. In 2006, she was invited to her first Winter X Games competition and won a silver medal in 2011. She won the U.S. National Championships in Tamarack, Idaho in 2007. In 2008 she won the Jeep King of the Mountain World snowboard series in Sun Valley. Her best World Cup finishes were 2nd place in Furano, Japan in 2006 and 2nd place in Arosa, Switzerland in 2011. The United States Center for SafeSport is an American 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2017 under the auspices of the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017. Peter Foley (snowboarding)
Peter Foley (born ) is an American former U.S. Ski & Snowboard (USSS) snowboarding coach. Foley served as the head coach of the U.S. Snowboard team starting with when it was founded in 1994, including at three Olympics. In 2001, he was named USSS Coach of the Year, and in 2021 he was selected by USSS as Snowboard Coach of the Year. He was fired by USSS in March 2022, after sexual misconduct allegations were made. He had been the coach of the U.S. snowboarding team for 28 years. On August 8, 2023, SafeSport suspended him for ten years for sexual misconduct.
