U.S. Senate Committee On Budget
The United States Senate Committee on the Budget was established by the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974. It is responsible for drafting Congress's annual United States budget process, budget plan and monitoring action on the budget for the Federal Government. The committee has jurisdiction over the Congressional Budget Office. The committee briefly operated as a select or special committee (United States Congress), special committee from 1919 to 1920 during the 66th Congress, before being made a standing committee in 1974. The current Chair is Vermont Senate, Senator Bernie Sanders, and the Ranking Member is South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham. Bernard Sanders (born September8, 1941) is an American politician who has served as the junior United States senator from Vermont since 2007. He was the U.S. representative for the state's at-large congressional district from 1991 to 2007. Sanders is the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history.
