U.S. Route 221 (US 221) in the U.S. state of Georgia is a south–north U.S. Highway. Quitman, Georgia
Quitman is a city in and the county seat of Brooks County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,850 at the 2010 census. The Quitman Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Quitman was a home of James Pierpont, author of the song "Jingle Bells" (1857), and uncle of American financier J.P. Morgan. Pierpont was organist for the First Presbyterian Church. A local Quitman ordinance prohibits chickens from crossing the road. It is called the "Camellia City", as the tree grows in profusion around the area. History Quitman was designated county seat of newly formed Brooks County in 1858. It was incorporated as a town in 1859 and as a city in 1904. As the county seat, it was the center of trading in the county, which was devoted to cotton plantations before and after the American Civil War. The community was named for John A. Jeff Davis County is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,779. The county seat is Hazlehurst. The county was created on August 18, 1905, and named for Jefferson Davis, the only Confederate president. Georgia State Route 76
State Route 76 (SR 76) is a state highway in the southern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. It connects the Florida state line, south-southwest of Quitman, with the Nashville area, via Quitman, Morven, and Adel. Route description Starting at the Florida line south of Quitman in Brooks County, SR 76 heads north concurrent with U.S. Route 221 (US 221). Just south of Quitman, both roads merge with SR 333. In downtown Quitman, US 221 heads east, and SR 76/SR 333 stays concurrent. Just north of downtown, SR 76 splits off from SR 333. It then passes through the towns of Morven and Barney before entering Cook County. SR 76 enters Cook County southwest of Adel. In town, it crosses, but does not junction with, Interstate 75 (I-75). Upstate South Carolina
The Upstate is the region in the westernmost part of South Carolina, United States, also known as the Upcountry, which is the historical term. Although loosely defined among locals, the general definition includes the 10 counties of the commerce-rich I-85 corridor in the northwest corner of South Carolina. This definition coincided with the Greenville–Spartanburg–Anderson, SC combined statistical area, as first defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in 2015. Johnson County, Georgia
Johnson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 9,189. The county seat is Wrightsville. Johnson County is part of the Dublin, Georgia, Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Johnson county was created by the Georgia legislature December 11, 1858, from parts of Emanuel, Laurens, and Washington counties. Johnson County was named for Georgia governor, senator, and U.S. vice-presidential candidate Herschel Vespasian Johnson. In 1919, a deputy driving Jim Waters, a black prisoner accused of rape, out of the county was stopped by a group of 150 men at a bridge over the Ohoopee River.
