U.S. Ausonia Spezia
Unione Sportiva Ausonia Spezia was an Italian association football club located in La Spezia. The club was admitted to the 1945–46 Serie B-C after merging with the Afterwork Spezia, the second club in the city. However, the following season Ausonia was relegated to Serie C 1946–47. La Spezia (, or , ; in the local Spezzino dialect) is the capital city of the province of La Spezia and is located at the head of the Gulf of La Spezia in the southern part of the Liguria region of Italy. 1945–46 Serie B-C
This special Serie B-C championship was organized with geographical criteria with Serie B and the best Serie C teams from Northern Italy taking part. For this reason, it is not included in the statistics even if it was an official tournament. Just after the Allies of World War II, Allied disbandment of the fascist Direttorio Divisioni Superiori, Higher Directory, the major clubs from United States, US-occupied Northern Italy replaced it by a provisional football league, the Lega Nazionale Alta Italia, High Italy League ''(Lega Alta Italia)'', which organized the expanded local section of the Serie B. Spezia Calcio 1906, Spezia asked to be admitted to Serie A. After the refusal of Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, FIGC, Spezia decided to join the regional leagues. Promozione
The Promozione (, "promotion") is the sixth level in the Italian football league system. Each individual league winner within the Promozione level progresses to their closest regional league in the Eccellenza level. Depending on each league's local rules, a number of teams each year are relegated from each league, to the 7th level of Italian football, the Prima Categoria. This level of Italian football is completely amateur and is run on a regional level. History in brief In the past, from 1904 to 1912, the Seconda Categoria had been the second level of Italian local regional tournaments in which main teams used to field apprentices and reserves. Spezia Calcio
Spezia Calcio is a professional Association football, football club based in La Spezia, Liguria, Italy. Spezia Calcio was founded in 1906 by the Swiss banker Hermann Hurni (or Hurny in some documents), who played for the early Crystal Palace amateur teams in London during his time there as a student. He played for Crystal Palace again in 1909. The first Spezia playing kit, light blue and white, was a second-hand amateur Crystal Palace kit donated to Hurny when he returned to La Spezia. In 1911, following the decision of Alberto Picco and others to honour Pro Vercelli as an example of a small team able to beat the big teams, a plain white shirt was adopted with black shorts and black socks, which is still in use today. In the 1920s prior to the creation of Serie A, Spezia played several top league games against the giants of Italian football including AC Milan, Juventus, and Inter Milan.
