Tömük Creek (also called Karakız) is an irregular-flow creek in Turkey. It is in Erdemli ilçe (district) of Mersin Province. The upper reaches are in Toros Mountains at altitude. However, after the construction of Karakız Lake now it is fed by the lake Its main course is toward south east. Erdemli
Erdemli is a town and district of Mersin Province in the Mediterranean region of Turkey, west of the city of Mersin. Geography Erdemli is located between the districts of Mezitli (to the east) and Silifke (to the west). In the north, Erdemli is bordered by Karaman Province and in the south by the Mediterranean Sea. The district extends from the Mediterranean coastal plain, the largest agricultural area in Mersin Province, to high in the Taurus Mountains where there is forest, and then a large area (half the land area of the district) is high mountain above the treeline. Erdemli is a quiet rural district where the people are conservative, and is traditionally a stronghold of Turkish nationalist politicians; however some departments of Mersin University are opening branches here which will surely have an effect on the cultural and social life of Erdemli in the future. Mersin Province
Mersin Province ( tr, ), formerly İçel Province ( tr, ), is a province in southern Turkey, on the Mediterranean coast between Antalya and Adana. The provincial capital and the biggest city in the province is Mersin, which is composed of four municipalities and district governorates: Akdeniz, Mezitli, Toroslar and Yenişehir. Toros Mountains
The Taurus Mountains (Turkish language, Turkish: ''Toros Dağları'' or ''Toroslar'') are a mountain range, mountain complex in southern Turkey, separating the Mediterranean Region, Turkey, Mediterranean coastal region from the central Anatolia#Anatolian plateau, Anatolian Plateau. The system extends along a curve from Lake Eğirdir in the west to the upper reaches of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers in the east. It is a part of the Alpide belt in Eurasia. Tömük
Tömük is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Erdemli, Mersin Province, Turkey. Its population is 12,170 (2022). Before the 2013 Turkish local government reorganisation, 2013 reorganisation, Tömük was a town (''belde''). It is inhabited by Tahtacı. Geography Tömük is in the rural area of Erdemli district. Although the midtown is north of the seaside, newer quarters of the town are founded at the seaside just to the south of the Datça Mersin highway, main highway State road D.400 (Turkey), D.400 connecting Mersin to the west. The highway distance to Mersin is and to Erdemli. History The earliest settlers were the members of a Turkmen people, Turkmen tribe of a certain Elvan Bey in the 14th century.
