Tyson Barrie
Tyson Barrie (born July 26, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers. He was drafted by the Avalanche in the third round, 64th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Early life Barrie was born on July 26, 1991, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, to parents Kristy and Len Barrie. His father Len is a former NHL player and Tampa Bay Lightning co-owner. He also has a sister named Victoria. As a result of his father's job, Barrie lived in Florida for a while growing up and interacted with many of the players, including former Panthers player Peter Worrell who would throw him into a laundry machine as a prank. Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche (colloquially known as the Avs) are a professional ice hockey team based in Denver. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Central Division in the Western Conference. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. 2011–12 AHL Season
The 2011–12 AHL season was the 76th season of the American Hockey League. The regular season began on October 7, 2011, and concluded on April 15, 2012. The 2012 Calder Cup playoffs follows the conclusion of the regular season. Regular season The 2011–12 season will feature scheduling changes in the regular season and post season. The major change will be the elimination of four games and extending the season by a week. The reasoning behind the change is to eliminate teams having to play four games in five nights. This will bring the total number of games for each team to 76. To accomplish that, the league has decided to add an additional week to the season. Stefan Elliott (born January 30, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing with Djurgårdens IF of the HockeyAllsvenskan (Allsv). Playing career As a youth, he played in the 2003 and 2004 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from North Vancouver. Elliott first played junior hockey with the Vancouver North West Giants in the BC Major Midget League, before moving on the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League. In his first full season with the Blades in 2007–08, Elliott led the defense with 31 assists and 40 points. In the following 2008–09 season, Elliott's offensive prowess improved to again lead the Blades defense with 15 goals and 55 points. The Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the defenceman of the year in the Western Hockey League. It is named after one of the league's founders, Bill Hunter, who was the driving force behind the creation of the WHL. Spokane Chiefs
The Spokane Chiefs are a major junior ice hockey team that plays in the Western Hockey League based out of Spokane, Washington. The team plays its home games at the Spokane Arena. Ed Chynoweth Cup
The Ed Chynoweth Cup is an ice hockey club championship trophy awarded to the playoff champion of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Originally called the President's Cup when the league was founded in 1966, the trophy was renamed in 2007 to honour Ed Chynoweth's long service to junior hockey in Canada.
