The Tyrone Senior Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition contested by top-tier Tyrone GAA clubs. The Tyrone County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1905. Éire Óg Carrickmore are the title holders (2021) defeating Eoghan Ruadh, Dungannon in the Final. History In 2008 The County final was decided in a replay, and was the first time the Tyrone Senior Hurling Club Championship final was ever played under floodlights. Carrickmore captured their 19th title, completing 3-in-row, for the second time in 7 years, and putting them one behind the leaders Eoghan Ruadh who have 20. Éire Óg Carrickmore
Éire Óg Carrickmore is a hurling club from County Tyrone. Their seniors have won the Tyrone Senior Hurling Championship a record 30 times, with the most recent in 2023, and their first in 1972. Founding While memories exist of the ancient game of camán, a precursor to the modern game of hurling, having been played locally in the 19th century, it was not until 1968 that hurling was revived in the parish by Kerryman Gerry Ryle. Gerry had come to teach at Dean Brian Maguirc School and upon coming across unused hurleys in the school gym in 1968, hurling came to life in Carrickmore. From that point Gerry bestowed his passion and enthusiasm for the game hurling upon the youth of the Dean who continued their interest after leaving school to the natural progression of forming Carrickmore's hurling club under the umbrella of St Colmcille's in 1970.. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaÃocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. The Tyrone County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae TÃr Eoghain), or Tyrone GAA, is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Eoghan Ruadh, Dungannon GAA
Eoghan Ruadh, Dungannon GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Dungannon, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The club is solely concerned with the game of hurling. History The Eoghan Ruadh club was founded in Dungannon in 1944. Since then, the club has won several titles in the Tyrone Senior Hurling Championship, and lies second only to Eire Óg Carrickmore on the all-time roll of honour with 24 titles. Healy Park
Healy Park (known as O'Neills Healy Park for sponsorship reasons) is a GAA stadium in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland and is named after a GAA clubman from Omagh, Michael Healy. Healy Park is the home ground of Omagh St. Enda's and the Tyrone county football team. The stadium is located on the Gortin Road and approximately a 10-minute walk from the town centre, it is one of the largest stadiums in Northern Ireland with a ticketed capacity of approximately 17,636. Carrickmore () is a village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the historic barony of Omagh East, the civil parish of Termonmaguirk and the Roman Catholic Parish of Termonmaguirc between Cookstown, Dungannon and Omagh. The Ulster Intermediate Club Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Ulster GAA Hurling Intermediate Club Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Ulster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the champion intermediate clubs and, in some cases, champion senior clubs in the province of Ulster in Ireland. The Ulster Intermediate Club Championship was introduced in 2004. In its current format, the championship begins in late October or early November and is usually played over a four-week period. Omagh St Enda's GAA
Omagh St Enda's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Conor Sally is club chairman. History GAA clubs existed in Drumragh parish during 1904-09 (including hurling and camogie), 1917–20 and intermittently in the 1920s. However it wasn't until 1932 when the Omagh St Enda's club was founded. The club's first meeting took place on 28 February in St Patrick's Hall opposite the Sacred Heart Church. Killyclogher St Mary's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Killyclogher in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
