Ty Griffin
Tyrone Vontrace Griffin (born September 5, 1967) is an American retired professional baseball second baseman. He played in minor league baseball and in international competition for the United States national baseball team. Career Griffin attended C. Leon King High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he played for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). At Georgia Tech, Griffin was named an All-ACC second baseman and the Most Valuable Player of the 1988 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament. Griffin was part of the United States national baseball team competing in the 1987 Pan American Games and 1988 Summer Olympics. Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks
One of the six founding members of the modern Northern League in 1993, the Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks were league members from 1993 to 1998. They played their home games at Port Arthur Stadium in Thunder Bay, Ontario. 1993 Season The Whiskey Jacks went 36-35 in the first year of the league. Former Chicago Cubs first-round pick Ty Griffin hit .274 and tied for the league lead with 11 home runs. OF Rodney McCray (.242, .341 SLG) led the loop with 35 steals. Northern League (baseball, 1993–2010)
The Northern League was an independent minor professional baseball league. It was not affiliated with Major League Baseball or the organized minor leagues. The league was founded in 1993 and folded after its 2010 season when financial stability became a problem. The three teams remaining in the league when it folded joined with the remaining teams in United League Baseball and the Golden Baseball League to form a new independent organization called the North American League. Chattanooga Lookouts
The Chattanooga Lookouts are a Minor League Baseball team of the Southern League and the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. They are located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and are named for nearby Lookout Mountain. The team plays its home games at AT&T Field which opened in 2000 and seats 6,340 fans. They previously played at Engel Stadium from 1930 through 1999, with a one-year break in Montgomery, Alabama's Cramton Bowl in 1943. History In 1906, Oliver Burnside "O.B." Andrews, owner of the Andrews Paper Box Company, took ownership of a franchise in the South Atlantic League relocating the Single-A team to Chattanooga. Scott Bryant
Scott Walter Bryant (born October 31, 1967) is a former college baseball and minor league baseball outfielder. College career Bryant attended the University of Texas, where he played for the Texas Longhorns baseball team. In the 1989 College World Series, Bryant helped lead Texas to the championship game. Bryant was named to the All-Tournament Team. That year, Bryant won the Dick Howser Trophy as the collegiate baseball player of the year. Professional career Bryant was chosen in the first round (20th overall) of the 1989 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. After the 1991 season, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs for Ty Griffin. He played in the minor leagues through 1998, not making the major leagues. The Carolina League is a Minor League Baseball league which has operated along the Atlantic Coast of the United States since 1945. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the Low-A East before reassuming its original moniker in 2022.
