''Two of a Kind'' is an early TV series for comedy duo Morecambe and Wise. It ran from 1961 to 1968 produced by ATV for the ITV network. History In 1954, Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise had starred in their first television series, '' Running Wild'' on BBC Television. This had proven to be a failure, which saw the duo initially return to the variety circuit, before slowly making a return to television, with guest spots on ''The Winifred Atwell Show'' and ''Double Six''. Their increasing success eventually led to an offer from Lew Grade, the managing director of ATV (then an ITV franchise holder), for a second attempt at a television series of their own. With memories of their previous attempt still in their mind, the duo said that they would accept the offer from Grade if they could obtain the services of the writing team of Dick Hills and Sid Green, as well as producer Colin Clews. The Winifred Atwell Show
''The Winifred Atwell Show'' was the title of both a British TV and radio series in the mid-1950s. They starred pianist Winifred Atwell, who had had a number of hits on the UK charts. Television The television series was broadcast 21 April to 23 June 1956 on ITV as "Bernard Delfont presents The Winifred Atwell Show",. The series was initially booked by ITV for 6 episodes, but this was extended to 10 by popular demand. Regulars included singing act Teddy Johnson and Pearl Carr and the comedy act Morecambe and Wise. The show switched to the BBC for 7 weekly episodes starting 13 April 1957. All episodes of both series are believed to be lost. Pearl Lavinia Carr (2 November 1921 – 16 February 2020) and Edward Victor "Teddy" Johnson (4 September 1919 – 6 June 2018) were English husband-and-wife entertainers who gained their highest profile during the 1950s and early 1960s. Early days Carr was born in Exmouth, Devon, and Johnson was born in Surbiton, Surrey. They were both successful solo singers before their marriage in 1955. ''Dixon of Dock Green'' was a BBC police procedural television series about daily life at a fictional London police station, with the emphasis on petty crime, successfully controlled through common sense and human understanding.
