Gunslinger
Gunfighters, also called gunslingers (), or in the 19th and early 20th centuries gunmen, were individuals in the American Old West who gained a reputation of being dangerous with a gun and participated in gunfights and shootouts. Today, the term "gunslinger" is more or less used to denote someone who is quick on the draw with a pistol, but can also refer to riflemen and shotgun messengers. The gunfighter is also one of the most popular characters in the Western genre and has appeared in associated films, video games, and literature. The gunfighter could be a lawman, outlaw, cowboy, or shooting exhibitionist, but was more commonly a hired gun who made a living with his weapons in the Old West. Origin of the term The term "gun slinger" was used in the Western film ''Drag Harlan'' (1920). The word was soon adopted by other Western writers, such as Zane Grey, and became common usage. Two-Gun Gussie
''Two-Gun Gussie'' is a 1918 American short comedy film featuring Harold Lloyd. Plot Gussie (Harold Lloyd) is a mild-mannered easterner who finds employment as a piano player in a rowdy western saloon. Dagger-Tooth Dan, the toughest character in town, sees two letters the local sheriff has received. One includes a picture of him, from another western sheriff, with a warning that Dan is a violent menace. The other letter contains a photo of Gussie and a check from his father, asking the sheriff to gave the check to Gussie. Dan switches the photos in the envelopes so that he receives Gussie's check. Furthermore, the sheriff now believes that Gussie is a violent gunman. Within a short time, the entire town is scared of Gussie's reputation. Gussie himself starts to believe he is a tough guy. ''Two Gun Man'' is a 1931 American Pre-Code Western film directed by Phil Rosen and starring Ken Maynard, Lucille Powers, and Charles King. It was released on May 15, 1931, by Tiffany Productions and was later re=released by Amity Pictures. Plot Carson City, Nevada, 1896: A large consolidate cattle company aims to bring in 40,000 head of cattle under the Federal government's open range program. This will wipe out the local ranchers. To speed up the demise of the locals, Tulliver, the head of the cattle conglomerate decides on a two-prong attack in the range war. First he hires gunslingers, called "Two Gun Men" based on the pair of revolvers they carry. Francis Crowley
Francis Crowley (October 31, 1912 – January 21, 1932) was an American murderer. His crime spree lasted nearly three months, ending in a two-hour shootout with the New York City Police Department on May 7, 1931, that was witnessed by 15,000 bystanders and received national attention. In 1932 he was executed in New York's electric chair. Early life Francis Crowley was born in New York City on October 31, 1912, the second son of an unwed German mother who gave him up for adoption. He had a hatred for police, with some speculating that his absent father was a police officer. This hatred for the police was compounded by police killing his brother John when Crowley was 12 years old. John was alleged to be involved in the killing of NYPD Officer Maurice Harlow on February 22, 1925.
