A civil township is a widely used unit of local government in the United States that is subordinate to a county, most often in the northern and midwestern parts of the country. Portage County is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 161,791. Located in Northeast Ohio, Portage County is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Cleveland–Akron–Canton Combined Statistical Area. Twinsburg is a suburban city in Summit County, Ohio, United States, located about halfway between Akron and Cleveland. The population was 19,248 as of the 2020 census. It is part of the Akron metropolitan area. History In 1817 Ethan Alling, then aged 16, came to Township Five in the tenth range of the Connecticut Land Company, also known as Millsville. Alling was to survey the of land his Connecticut family had purchased. He is considered the first settler of the town that would be renamed Twinsburg, and later he became the postmaster of the town, as well as a merchant, stagecoach operator, and hotel proprietor.
