Twin Lakes is a census-designated place in Ferry County, Washington, United States. Demographics In 2010, it had a population of 59. The census reported that 36 of the inhabitants were male, and 23 were female. Geography Twin Lakes is located in southeastern Ferry County on the east side of North and South Twin Lakes. The lakes' outlet is Cornstalk Creek, which leaves the north end of North Twin Lake and flows east to the Columbia River at Inchelium. Bridge Creek Road leads east from North Twin Lake to Inchelium and west across Gold Mountain Ridge to Washington State Route 21 in the Sanpoil River valley. Ferry County is a county located on the northern border of the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,178, making it the fourth-least populous county in Washington. The county seat and largest city is Republic. The county was created out of Stevens County in February 1899 and is named for Elisha P. Ferry, the state's first governor. History During the time of Washington Territory, the Territorial Legislature created Stevens County in 1863, containing all the land from the Columbia River to the Cascades north of the Wenatchee River from Walla Walla County. Area code 360 is the telephone area code for western Washington state outside metropolitan Seattle. It began service on January 15, 1995. The numbering plan area (NPA), which encompasses all of western Washington outside urban King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties and Bainbridge Island, was previously part of area code 206. Inchelium, Washington
Inchelium ( oka, N̓čaʔlíwm̓) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Ferry County, Washington, United States on the Colville Indian Reservation. The population was 431 at the 2020 Census. Inchelium was relocated from an earlier site in the early 1940s. Old Inchelium had been located on the banks of the Columbia River before the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam. As the waters rose behind the dam, the town had to be moved. Washington State Route 21
State Route 21 (SR 21) is a long state highway in the U.S. state of Washington that traverses four counties: Franklin, Adams, Lincoln and Ferry. The highway extends from an intersection with in Kahlotus north through Lind, Odessa, Clark, Keller, Republic and Curlew before becoming (BC 41) at the Canada–US border in Danville. SR 21 is concurrent with (US 2) in Wilbur and in Republic and has two diamond interchanges: at in Lind and (I-90) south of Odessa. Between Lincoln and Ferry counties, the roadway crosses Franklin D. Roosevelt Lake on the Keller Ferry, operated fare free by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the Department of Highways (DoH) since 1930. Sanpoil River
The Sanpoil River (also spelled San Poil) is a tributary of the Columbia River, in the U.S. state of Washington. The river is named for the Sanpoil, the Interior Salish people who live along the river course. The name is from the Okanagan term '' npʕʷílx', meaning "people of the gray country", or "gray as far as one can see". Course The Sanpoil River originates in the Kettle River Range of northeast central Washington, as a confluence of the North Fork Sanpoil and South Fork Sanpoil rivers. It flows west into the Curlew Lake valley and turns south at Torboy where it enters Sanpoil Lake.
