Turkey national amputee football team is the men's national team of Turkey in amputee football. It is governed by the Turkish Disabled Sports Federation ( tr, Türkiye Bedensel Engelliler Spor Federasyonu, TBESF), and takes part in international amputee football competitions. Amputee Football In Turkey
Amputee football was first played in Turkey in 2003, the first nation-wide competition was held in 2004, and the first international participation took place the same year. The sport is governed by the Turkish Physically Disabled Sports Federation ("Türkiye Bedensel Engelliler Spor Federasyonu", TBESF), and supported by the Turkish Football Federation ("Türkiye Futbol Federasyonu", TFF). History Created in 1982, amputee football was developed for athletes having a physical impairment with unilateral lower and upper limb amputation. The disabled sport became international in 1985. Amputee football started in Turkey for rehabilitation purposes within the Turkish Armed Forces in 2003, and attracted later scientific research by the Sports Medicine discipline in Turkey. Rahmi Özcan (born 1990) is a Turkish amputee footballer playing as midfielder. He is a member of the Turkey national amputee football team. Private life Rahmi Özcan was born in Manisa in 1990 with a birth defect of right leg deformation, which was amputed above the knee. He uses the crutch at special events only. Şeyhmus Erdinç (born 14 August 1992) is a Turkish amputee footballer who plays as a midfielder. He is a member of the Turkey national amputee football team. Early life and education Şeyhmus Erdinç was born as the first child of the family in İzmir, Turkey on 14 August 1992 with a deformed left leg, which was later amputated below the knee; he started using a prosthesis. His father, who owned an apparel workshop, was an amateur footballer and took Şeyhmus to the football pitch from the age of one. His father died from tuberculosis when Şeyhmus was six years old, leaving him and his sister to be raised by their mother Necah and grandfather.
