Turf Skatepark
Turf Skatepark, also known as "Surfin' Turf" or "The Turf", is a former skatepark located in Greenfield, Wisconsin, United States, less than one mile south of the city of Milwaukee. The Turf was an indoor/outdoor facility consisting of five sculptured concrete pools providing some of the best terrain of its time. Tony Hawk
Anthony Frank Hawk (born May 12, 1968), nicknamed Birdman, is an American professional skateboarder, entrepreneur, and the owner of the skateboard company Birdhouse. A pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding, Hawk completed the first documented " 900" skateboarding trick in 1999. He also licensed a skateboarding video game series named after him published by Activision that same year. He retired from competing professionally in 2003 and is regarded as one of the most influential skateboarders of all time. Mike Vallely ( ), also known as Mike V, is an American professional skateboarder and musician. Since November 2013, he has been the lead vocalist of hardcore punk band Black Flag. Vallely is the second-longest-serving member of the band, although he has not appeared on any albums. Early life Vallely grew up in Edison, New Jersey. He has an older brother, Joe, and a younger sister, Amy. Growing up, Vallely played little league baseball, but, in 1984, aged 14, Vallely discovered skateboarding and punk music, borrowed a skateboard from a friend and proceeded to dedicate his life to skateboarding. Mark Rogowski
Mark Anthony "Gator" Rogowski (born August 10, 1966) is an American former professional skateboarder who was convicted of murder. He was mainly prominent in the 1980s and early 1990s. Rogowski's career ended when he pled guilty for assaulting, raping and murdering Jessica Bergsten in 1991. His life was chronicled in a critically acclaimed 2003 documentary titled '' Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator'' by American filmmaker Helen Stickler. Early years Rogowski was born in Brooklyn, New York, but he moved to Escondido, California, at the age of three after his parents divorced. Jeff Phillips (skateboarder)
Jeff Phillips (June 11, 1963 – December 25, 1993) was an American professional skateboarder. Phillips grew up in Dallas, Texas and started skateboarding at 10 years old. In 1973, his grandmother Annice gave him a Shark skateboard with steel wheels. Jeff and his father, Charles, crafted skateboards at home out of scraps of birch and plywood. As a teenager he frequented “Wizard Skateboard Park” in Garland and then a few years later “Skate Time” at Bachman Lake, in Dallas featuring the infamous “Blue Ramp/Clown Ramp”. Phillips won his first contest as a sponsored amateur in July 1982 at the Kona/Variflex Summer Nationals. In March 1986, Phillips placed third at the opening NSA Pro-Am event in Houston. Robert Lance Mountain (born June 13, 1964) is a professional skateboarder and artist who was one of the prominent skateboarders throughout the 1980s, primarily due to his involvement with the Bones Brigade. Lester Kasai (skateboarder) (born August 12, 1966) grew up in Anaheim, California. He began skating at a young age and was one of the original "Sadlands" team skateboard riders. He was one of the top Pro Skateboarders that dominated the Skate City Skatepark, in Whittier, California for many years. Lester was one of the super stylish big air innovators of the 80's. The Sims "Lester" pro model skateboard was immensely popular. Jason Jessee (born December 29th is an American professional skateboarder and automotive designer best known for his stint with Santa Cruz Skateboards in the late 1980s. He was identified as the 24th most influential skateboarder of all time by ''TransWorld SKATEboarding'' magazine in 2011. The feature documentary ''Pray for Me: The Jason Jessee Film'' was released in 2007. Greenfield, Wisconsin
Greenfield is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Located in Milwaukee County, Greenfield is one of many bedroom communities in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 37,803 as of the 2020 Census. History On March 8, 1839, the Town of Kinnikennick was created by the territorial legislature, encompassing the western part of the Town of Lake); and on December 20, 1839, the south portion of the Town of Kinnikennick was split off to form the town of Franklin.
