Turbo File (ASCII)
The Turbo File devices from ASCII Corporation are external storage devices for saving game positions on various Nintendo consoles. They have been sold only in Japan, and are mainly supported by ASCII's own games. Turbofile For the Famicom, released in 1986. It contains 8 kB battery-backed SRAM. It connects to the Famicom's 15-pin controller expansion port. was a Japanese publishing company based in Chiyoda, Tokyo. It became a subsidiary of Kadokawa Group Holdings in 2004, and merged with another Kadokawa subsidiary MediaWorks on April 1, 2008, becoming ASCII Media Works. The company published '' Monthly ASCII'' as the main publication. ASCII is best known for creating the ''Derby Stallion'' video game series, the MSX computer, and the ''RPG Maker'' line of programming software. Nintendo Power (cartridge)
was a video game distribution service for Super Famicom or Game Boy operated by Nintendo that ran from late 1996 until February 2007. The service allowed users to download Super Famicom or Game Boy titles onto a special flash memory cartridge for a lower price than that of a pre-written ROM cartridge. At its 1996 launch, the service initially offered only Super Famicom titles. Game Boy titles began being offered on March 1, 2000. The service was ultimately discontinued on February 28, 2007. RPG Maker, known in Japan as , is a series of programs for the development of role-playing video games (RPGs) with story-driven elements, created by the Japanese group ASCII, succeeded by Enterbrain. The Japanese name, ''Tsukūru'', is a pun mixing the Japanese word ''tsukuru'' (作る), means "make" or "create", with ''tsūru'' (ツール), the Japanese transcription of the English word "tool".
