In the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield position whose primary role is to stop attacks during the game and prevent the opposition from scoring. Beşiktaş () is a district and municipality of Istanbul, Turkey, located on the European shore of the Bosphorus strait. Kocaelispor is a Turkish football club based in İzmit. They were founded in 1966 and played in the top level between 1980–1988 and 1992–2003. Their best finish was in 1992–93 season, where they finished fourth. They have won the Turkish Cup twice, in 1997 and 2002.
