Tunisian American
Tunisian Americans are Americans of Tunisian descent. Tunisia–United States relations date back more than 200 years. History Prior to the arrival of Peace Corps and Amideast volunteers in the early-1960s and 1970s, there was little interest on the part of Tunisians to emigrate to the US. In 1981, the U.S. launched its Technology Transfer Program in Tunisia with the goal of increasing Tunisia's long-term capacity to apply new technologies in support of the development of a market economy. The Technology Transfer Program aimed to accomplish this by developing a substantial cadre of individuals with the skills and attitudes needed to develop and sustain a competitive, open market system. USAID/Tunis to date has obligated $45 million under the Project, has dispersed all but about $3 million of that total. George Allen (American Politician)
George Felix Allen (born March 8, 1952) is an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the 67th governor of Virginia from 1994 to 1998 and as a United States senator from Virginia from 2001 to 2007. The son of National Football League head coach George Allen, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1983 to 1991, resigning after he won a special election for Virginia's 7th congressional district in November 1991. After his district was eliminated during redistricting, he declined to run for a full term in 1992, instead running for Governor of Virginia in the 1993 election. He defeated Democratic Attorney General of Virginia Mary Sue Terry by 58.3% against 40.9%. Ghaya Oliveira
Ghaya Oliveira is a Tunisian-born chef who works at the New York City-based restaurant Daniel as pastry chef. She was named the Outstanding Pastry Chef at the James Beard Foundation Awards in 2017. Career Ghaya Oliveira was born in Tunisia. Some of her earliest memories of cooking come from her grandmother, in particular the custard she made, which was also used to make ourta at Ramadan. Oliveira attended a local university, where she graduated with a degree in economics and began working for an investment bank in Tunis. When Oliveira's sister fell ill, she moved to New York City to be with her. Anissa Naouai (born August 17, 1982) is an American journalist and former television presenter. She is the CEO of Maffick Media, a Berlin-based digital media company with Russian links, as of February 2019. Early life Naouai was born in New York City and is of Tunisian and German-American descent. In 2000–2001, Naouai studied at Hunter College City University of New York. David Albert Mazouz (; born ) is an American actor. He is best known for his leading role as Bruce Wayne in Fox's Batman-prequel TV drama '' Gotham'' (2014–2019). Suleika Jaouad ( ; ar, سليكة جواد) is an American writer, advocate, and motivational speaker. She is the author of the "Life, Interrupted" column in ''The New York Times'' and has also written for ''Vogue, Glamour'', NPR's ''All Things Considered'' and ''Women's Health''. Her 2021 memoir ''Between Two Kingdoms'' was a ''New York Times'' Best Seller. When Jaouad was diagnosed with a rare form of acute myeloid leukemia in 2011, doctors said she had only a 35% chance of surviving. Benjamin James Guez (born January 24, 1987) was drafted by the Tigers in 2008, and has played in Detroit's organization from to 2008-2014. Miled Faiza ( ar, ميلاد فايزه, translit=Mīlād Fāyzah; born 1974) is a Tunisian-American writer. Career Miled Faiza was born in Monastir, Tunisia in 1974. He published his first book of poetry in 2004 and his poetry has been translated into English, French, Spanish and Serbian. Faiza is also a translator; his translation of Ali Smith's ''Autumn'' was published as ''al-Kharīf'' ''in 2018'' and he has also published many translations of American poems into Arabic. In addition to writing, he was a reviewing editor of the Oxford Arabic Dictionary (2014), and is the co-creator of the Tunisian Arabic Corpus. Mounir Laroussi (born August 9, 1955) is a Tunisian-American scientist. He is known for his work in plasma science, especially low temperature plasmas and their biomedical applications. Leila Maryam Ben Youssef ( ar, ليلى مريم بن يوسف; born November 13, 1981 in Sidney, Montana, United States) is a Tunisian-American pole vaulter. She is a multiple-time Tunisian record holder in the pole vault, and a gold medalist at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria.
