Tunisia At The Paralympics
Tunisia made its Paralympic Games debut at the 1988 Summer Paralympics in Seoul. It was represented by a single athlete, Monaam Elabed, who won two bronze medals in athletics. The country has competed in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, although it has never taken part in the Winter Paralympics. Somaya Bousaid ( ar, , born 5 May 1980) is a Tunisian Paralympian athlete competing mainly in category T13 middle-distance events. Career She competed in the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece where she won the gold medal in the T12 1500m and a bronze medal in the T12 800m. 2000 Summer Paralympics
The 2000 Summer Paralympic Games or the XI Summer Paralympics were held in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, between 18 and 29 October. Olympic Medal Table
The Olympic medal table is a method of sorting the medal placements of countries in the modern-day Olympics and Paralympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) does not officially recognize a ranking of participating countries at the Olympic Games. Nevertheless, the IOC does publish medal tallies for information purposes, showing the total number of Olympic medals earned by athletes representing each country's respective National Olympic Committee. The convention used by the IOC is to sort by the number of gold medals the athletes from a country have earned. In the event of a tie in the number of gold medals, the number of silver medals is taken into consideration, and then the number of bronze medals. If two countries have an equal number of gold, silver, and bronze medals, they are ordered in the table alphabetically by their IOC country code. Abderrahim Zhiou ( ar, عبد الرحيم زهيو, born September 26, 1985) is a Paralympian athlete from Tunisia competing mainly in category T12 middle distance events. He is a six-time Paralympiclympic medalist, is an African record holder, and trains with the Tunisian Federation of Sports for the Disabled team based at Gabes. Raoua Tlili ( ar, روعة التليلي; born October 5, 1989) is a Paralympian athlete from Tunisia competing mainly in category F41 shot put and discus events and is a multi gold medalist at the Paralympics. Career Tlili made her senior international debut back in 2006, she competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China, there she won a gold medal in the women's shot put F40 event throwing a new world record of 8.95 meters and also a silver medal in the women's discus throw F40 event.
