Tun Foundation Award
The Tun Foundation Bank ( my, ထွန်းဖောင်ဒေးရှင်းဘဏ်) is a privately owned bank in Myanmar that was established on 8 June 1994. All the profits from this bank go into scholarships for children from poor families. Operations As of 2000 the bank was run by Thein Tun, Chairman of MGS Group of Companies. It is involved in social, educational and health projects. In 2000 the bank had recently opened new branches in Bayintnaung and Mandalay. In 2011 Myanmar's financial authorities introduced an online banking network system in six banks, one being the Tun Foundation Bank. Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Awards
The Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Awards ( my, စာပေဗိမာန် စာပဒေသာ ဆုများ) are annual literary awards given in Burma by the Sarpay Beikman (Palace of Literature), a department of the Ministry of Information. They are awarded for unpublished manuscripts in various fiction and non-fiction categories. Sarpay Beikman publishes the winning entries, as well as giving a financial prize. The awards complement the Burma National Literature Award and the privately sponsored Sayawun Tin Shwe Award, Pakokku U Ohn Pe literary award, Thuta Swesone literary award and Tun Foundation award. Myint Swe (general)
Myint Swe ( my, မြင့်ဆွေ, ; born 24 May 1951) is a Burmese politician currently serving as Acting President of Myanmar as well as First Vice President. He previously served as the acting president after the resignation of President Htin Kyaw on 21 March 2018, and the chief minister of Yangon Region from 30 March 2011 to 30 March 2016. On 30 March 2016, he was sworn in as the vice president of Myanmar. He is an ethnic Mon ex-military officer in the Myanmar Army with the rank of a lieutenant general. Myint Swe was declared acting president by the Tatmadaw in the coup d'état on 1 February 2021, after which he immediately transferred power to Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Min Aung Hlaing. Kyaw Hsan
Kyaw Hsan (born 20 May 1948) is a former Brigadier-General and previously served as Minister of Cooperatives, Minister of Culture and Minister of Information of Myanmar. Kyaw Hsan was born on 20 May 1948 is Monywa, Sagaing Region. He attended high school in Pale. He applied to the Defense Services Academy (DSA) in 1964 but was rejected because he was too small. The next year he reapplied, this time successfully. After graduating in 1969, Kyaw Hsan served as battalion commander and then division commander under Vice Senior-General Maung Aye, a regional commander in Shan State. In 2001 Kyaw Hsan was appointed deputy Minister of Commerce. In September 2002 he was appointed Minister of Information. Kyaw Hsan had to resign from the military to run for office in 2010 on the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party platform. Thuta Swesone Literary Award
The Thuta Swesone literary awards have been presented by the Swesone Media group since 2006. They are sponsored by Tin Tun Oo, the cofounder of the Myanmar Times. The awards complement the government's National Literary Awards and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Awards and the Sayawun Tin Shwe Award, Pakokku U Ohn Pe literary award and Tun Foundation award. The Sayawun Tin Shwe Literary Award ( my, ဆရာဝန်တင်ရွှေဆု) has been presented annually since November 2002 under the patronage of the Myanmar Writers and Journalists Association (MWJA). Non-fiction books published in the previous year are eligible. The awards are named after the writer Sayawun Tin Shwe.
