Tumbi Umbi is a mostly semi-rural suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located northwest of Bateau Bay along Wyong Road. It is part of the local government area. History Tumbi Umbi is an Aboriginal expression meaning ''place of tall trees''. Tumbi Umbi Secondary College opened in 1996. Geography It is a somewhat distributed community on the shores of Tuggerah Lake and associated with the creek that feeds into that body of water. In Aboriginal times the description "A place of much water" accurately described the swamp land that has now been extensively drained and populated with housing, industrial estates, a school, Mingara Recreation Club, Mingara One Fitness and Aquatic Centre, a pistol range and Glengara Retirement Village. Matcham is a semi-rural suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the local government area and included in the electoral district of Terrigal. It has a hall and a historic church, St. George's Church, established in 1925. Origin of the name Matcham The Matcham Estate was a grant of 2,560 acres to Charles Horatio Nelson Matcham, a nephew of Lord Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson. Charles Horatio Matcham came to Sydney in 1828. Charles Matcham of the Murrumbidgee River was promised the land as a primary grant and authorised to take possession from 18 October 1831. The deed is registered in book 59/129 and is dated 1 January 1840. He remained at "Bogolong" Murrumbidgee, where he died on 11 March 1844. Wamberal () is a coastal suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, just north of Terrigal. It is part of the local government area and is located adjacent to the Wamberal Lagoon. Wamberal is an Aboriginal word meaning 'where the sea breaks'. Geography and amenities Wamberal is the next suburb from Terrigal, with the two suburbs being separated by the Terrigal Lagoon Estuary. Holgate is a semi-rural suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia north-east of Gosford. It is part of the local government area. It is located approximately five minutes from Erina and the shopping destination "Erina Fair", as well as seven minutes from beaches including Terrigal Beach. Holgate contains some great attractions including Firescreek Winery, Bamboo Buddha, the Matcham Valley Pony Club, and other attractions including the Katandra Reserve. Bateau Bay, New South Wales
Bateau Bay is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the local government area. Bateau Bay lies in the area known as Darkinjung to Indigenous Australians. "Bateau" is French for "boat." The suburb was previously known as Boat Harbour but it was changed to the French version as a marketing activity in the 1970s.
