Tumba-Lediima Nature Reserve
Tumba-Lediima Nature Reserve is a protected area in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It lies immediately east of the Congo River, in Mai-Ndombe Province, Mai-Ndombe and Province of Équateur, Équateur provinces, and extends from east of the town of Yumbi to just south of the town of Liranga. Mai-Ndombe Province
Mai-Ndombe is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning. Mai-Ndombe, Kwango, and Kwilu provinces are the result of the dismemberment of the former Bandundu province. Mai-Ndombe was formed from the Plateaux and Mai-Ndombe districts. The town of Inongo was elevated to capital city of the new province. History Mai-Ndombe Province was a separate province from 1962 to 1966, prior the creation of Bandundu Province from the post-colonial political regions of Kwango, Kwilu, and Mai-Ndombe. Province Of Équateur
Équateur is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning. Équateur, Mongala, Nord-Ubangi, Sud-Ubangi, and Tshuapa provinces are the result of the dismemberment of the former Équateur province. Yumbi
Yumbi is a town and Territories of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, territory of Mai-Ndombe Province, Mai-Ndombe in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It lies on the eastern bank of the Congo River between Bolobo and Lukolela. The town of Yumbi is the headquarters of Yumbi Territory and has a population of approximately 30,000. On February 2, 2003 a tornado killed 17 people in and near the town. Over 4,000 people were injured, 217 seriously. 2018 massacre Between December 16 and 18, 2018 at least 890 people were killed in four villages of the territory, as reported by the UNHCR. Eastern Congolian Swamp Forests
The Eastern Congolian swamp forests are a fairly intact but underresearched ecoregion of the tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests biome. It is located within the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This is the eastern half of one of the largest areas of swamps in the world. Setting The swamp forest is flat, wet forest between in elevation on the left bank of the Congo River, and spreading across a swathe of the Congo Basin, including some of the Congo's largest tributaries and the Boyoma Falls, Stanley Falls area near Kisangani. Climate The climate is tropical and humid, with little seasonal variation. Average annual rainfall exceeds 2000 mm. Ngiri Triangle Nature Reserve
The Ngiri Reserve is a protected area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It is located in western Équateur province, in the Bomongo, Bikoro and Makanza territories, and covers a total area of . It extends northward from the confluence of the Congo River and the Ubangi River. According to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) the reserve will conserve biodiversity and the ecosystem in the Ngiri triangle.
