Angie Nelp (; born February 23, 1980) is an American basketball coach and former player who is currently the head women's basketball coach at the University of Tulsa. Coaching career Nelp began her coaching career as a head coach at Yorktown High School in Indiana for two seasons before moving on to Arkansas as a graduate assistant. She went on to Marquette to be their assistant director of basketball operations before joining Mercer as an assistant coach. She also had stints as an assistant at Rice and Arizona State. Donald W. Reynolds Center is an 8,355-seat multi-purpose arena in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Designed by HOK Sport (now known as Populous Co.), the arena opened in 1998 and is named for Donald W. Reynolds. The Golden Hurricane are the athletic teams that represent the University of Tulsa. These teams are referred to as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (or variously as TU or Tulsa). Before adopting the name Golden Hurricane in 1922, the University of Tulsa (TU) had many unofficial team nicknames including Kendallites (from TU's predecessor institution Henry Kendall College), Presbyterians (from the university's founding by the Presbyterian Church), Tulsans, Tigers, Orange and Black, and Yellow Jackets. The name "Golden Tornadoes" was chosen by TU football coach H.M. Archer (1922–24) based on new gold and black uniforms (rather than the previous orange and black) and a remark made during practice of the team "roaring through opponents" (during a season when TU went undefeated, including wins over Texas A&M and the University of Arkansas). Charlene Thomas-Swinson (born December 11, 1965) is an assistant coach for Las Vegas Aces. From 2005 to 2011, Thomas-Swinson was the head women's basketball coach at Tulsa. Her overall record as a head coach was 61-86 over five seasons. The 2006 team earned the Conference USA championship, and an NCAA tournament appearance, where they upset fifth seeded NC State in the first round. That year, Thomas-Swinson earned conference coach of the year honors. Thomas-Swinson previously served as an assistant coach at Indiana, Auburn, and Florida.
