TuVisión
TuVisión was an American Spanish language broadcasting network, which is owned by Pappas Telecasting. ''TuVisión'' is a portmanteau of ''tu'' (your) and ''televisión''. During the latter part of 2007, Pappas hired Moelis & Company to develop long-term objectives to identify which television assets it should retain. In 2008, several affiliates filed for Chapter 11 protection. and TuVisión ceased broadcasting in 2009. History TuVisión began operations on July 1, 2007, after Pappas dropped the Azteca America network from the Spanish-language stations that Pappas owned. The only exception was Los Angeles' KAZA-TV, which retained the network until its 2018 sale to Weigel Broadcasting; Pappas was under contract to carry Azteca América through December 2012 and its later bankruptcy effectively kept the affiliation after 2012 on creditor's orders. Johnny Canales
Juan José "Johnny" Canales (born 1947 in General Treviño, Nuevo León, Mexico) is a Mexican retired Tejano singer and former host of the television show "''The Johnny Canales Show''". Canales is credited with one of the first live performances of vocalist Selena by her 13th birthday. He took Selena y Los Dinos for their first concerts in Mexico. As a radio DJ in 1974, Canales gave Ruben Naranjo considerable airplay. The original show Johnny Canales was the executive producer for ''The Johnny Canales Show'' which debuted in 1983. His program showcased emerging bands from Mexico and the United States. Some of his guests included La Sombra de Chicago, Selena, Nancy, La Mafia, Mazz, Intocable, Grupo Pegasso De Emilio Reyna, Fama (band), Fama, Jaime y Los Chamacos, Jennifer Peña, Los Tigres del Norte and Los Relámpagos del Norte and many more. Pappas Telecasting Companies was a diversely organized broadcasting company headquartered in Visalia, California, United States. Founded in 1971, it was one of the largest privately held broadcasting companies in the country, with its stations reaching over 15% of all U.S. households and over 32% of Hispanic households. Apart from owning and/or operating many television stations, the company formerly had two radio stations in its possession, KTRB AM 860 and KMPH-AM 840—changed from KPMP in June 2006 to reflect its nearby sister/flagship television station, Fox affiliate KMPH-TV, both in Fresno, California. Weigel Broadcasting Co. is an American television broadcasting company based in Chicago, Illinois, alongside its flagship station WCIU-TV (Channel 26), at 26 North Halsted Street in the Greektown neighborhood. It currently owns 25 television stations, seven digital over-the-air television networks (most notably MeTV), and one radio station. A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. Owned-and-operated Station
In the broadcasting industry, an owned-and-operated station (frequently abbreviated as an O&O) usually refers to a television or radio station owned by the network with which it is associated. This distinguishes such a station from an affiliate, which is independently owned and carries network programming by contract. The concept of an O&O is clearly defined in the United States and Canada (and to some extent, several other countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Japan), where network-owned stations had historically been the exception rather than the rule.
