Tsuchiya Engineering
Tsuchiya Engineering is a team located in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, founded by Haruo Tsuchiya, and now ran by his son, Takeshi Tsuchiya, Takeshi. Origins Haruo Tsuchiya used to work at TOMEI Automotive, before leaving in 1971 to create his own shop and team. The team initially competed in local touring car races, before entering Japanese Touring Car Championship, JTC, where it won the Division-3 title twice, in 1989 and 1990 Japanese Touring Car Championship, 1990. Tsuchiya later entered JGTC, and not long after, in 1998 All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship, 1998, they set a record-breaking season. A partnership with Team Taisan and with drivers Shingo Tachi and Keiichi Suzuki (racing driver), Keiichi Suzuki earned them 5 wins out of 6 races. The 1990 Japanese Touring Car Championship season was the 6th edition of the series. It began at Nishi Nippon on 18 March and finished after six events at Fuji Speedway on 11 November. Fuji Speedway
is a motorsport race track standing in the foothills of Mount Fuji, in Oyama, Suntō District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It was built in the early 1960s. In the 1980s, Fuji Speedway was used for the FIA World Sportscar Championship and national racing. Originally managed by Mitsubishi Estate Co., Fuji Speedway was acquired by Toyota Motor Corporation in 2000.
