Tskhumi Sokhumi
FC Tskhumi Sokhumi is a Georgian association football club, currently playing in Regionuli Liga East, the fifth tier of the Georgian league system. The club was based in Sokhumi in 1990–1993 and following the War in Abkhazia (1992–1993) was re-founded by an internally displaced person from Abkhazia in Tbilisi. History In 1990, most Georgian clubs including FC Dinamo Tbilisi withdrew from the Soviet League system and established the Georgian national league as the Umaglesi Liga. The club's predecessor, FC Dinamo Sokhumi, refused to join it and continued to play in the Soviet First League for the next two seasons. Therefore, Tskhumi was formed to represent Sokhumi in Umaglesi Liga. Star players Gocha Gogrichiani and Giorgi Chikhradze joined from Dinamo. The first president was Guram Gabiskiria. Sukhumi (russian: Суху́м(и), ) or Sokhumi ( ka, სოხუმი, ), also known by its Abkhaz name Aqwa ( ab, Аҟәа, ''Aqwa''), is a city in a wide bay on the Black Sea's eastern coast. It is both the capital and largest city of the Republic of Abkhazia, which has controlled it since the Abkhazia war in 1992–93. However, internationally Abkhazia is considered part of Georgia. Liga 3, organized by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Until 2017, when the current name was introduced, it was known as Meore Liga (the Second league). Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups. FC Guria is a Georgian association football club from Lanchkhuti, which competes in Liga 3, the third tier of the national league. Being one of the strongest Georgian teams in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Guria have taken part in the Soviet Top league, also won the national Cup and played fifteen seasons in Umaglesi Liga, twice claiming silver medals.
