''Tshiuetin'' ( Innu for ''North Wind'') is a 2016 Canadian short documentary film directed by Caroline Monnet. Subject The short concerns Tshiuetin Rail Transportation, which has a line running from Labrador to Schefferville, Quebec that came under the control of a First Nations group in December 2005, an unprecedented situation in the history of Canada. Aboriginal groups have been proud of owning the line, with the documentary attempting to convey why the line is significant. Release and reception The film was featured in the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. Tshiuetin Rail Transportation Inc. is a rail company that owns and operates a Canadian regional railway that stretches through the wilderness of western Labrador and northeastern Quebec. It connects Emeril, Labrador with Schefferville, Quebec on the interprovincial boundary. The company also operates a railway that connects Sept-Îles, Quebec to Emeril. Caroline "Coco" Monnet is an Algonquin French Canadian contemporary artist and filmmaker known for her work in sculpture, installation, and film. Early life and education Monnet is a multi-disciplinary contemporary artist and filmmaker based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She grew up between the Celtic coasts of France in Douarnenez and the Algonquin territory of Outaouais, Québec, and much of her work explores her Algonquin (Quebec) and French (France) dual heritage. She is the younger sister of artist and playwright Émilie Monnet. Monnet has B.A in communications and sociology from the University of Ottawa and has studied at the University of Granada in Spain. She is an alumnus of the Berlinale Talents and TIFF Talent Lab 2016. Career Monnet began her film career making short films. The 5th annual Canadian Screen Awards were held on March 12, 2017, to honour achievements in Canadian film, television, and digital media production in 2016. Schefferville is a town in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Quebec. Schefferville is in the heart of the Naskapi and Innu territory in northern Quebec, less than 2 km (1¼ miles) from the border with Labrador on the north shore of Knob Lake. It is located within the Caniapiscau Regional County Municipality and has an area of . Schefferville completely surrounds the autonomous Innu community of Matimekosh, Quebec, Matimekosh, and it abuts the small community of Lac-John Reserve.
