Tshepo Mangena (born 7 March 1983) was a South African cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler and wicket-keeper who played for Limpopo Limpopo is the northernmost province of South Africa. Mangena's first cricketing appearance came in the UCB Associates Cup, though he failed to make much of an impression with the bat from the opening order. Almost exactly two years later, Mangena made his debut first-class appearance for Limpopo, against Griqualand West. He made one further first-class appearance in the competition, and a one-day appearance, with a top first-class score of 19 runs. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Limpopo cricket team, also called the Limpopo Impalas, are a first-class cricket team representing Limpopo, the northernmost province of South Africa. Limpopo Impala Cricket has its headquarters in Polokwane, and the team plays their home games at the Polokwane Cricket Club Ground. First-class history When Cricket South Africa decided to expand the Provincial Three-Day Challenge in 2006, Limpopo were one of five provincial teams (along with Kei, KwaZulu-Natal Inland, Mpumalanga and South Western Districts) elevated to first-class status. Limpopo played eight first-class matches in the 2006–07 season, losing five and drawing the other three. They played seven matches in the Provincial One-Day Challenge, winning two and losing five. Phalaborwa (translated to English as ''better than the south; phala'' means ''better than and borwa'' means ''south'') is a town in the Mopani District Municipality, Limpopo province, South Africa. It is located near the confluence of the Ga-Selati River and the Olifants River (Limpopo), Olifants, halfway up along the western border of the Kruger National Park in the Lowveld. Griqualand West Cricket Team
Northern Cape (formerly Griqualand West) is a first-class cricket team that nominally represents the South African province of Northern Cape in the CSA Provincial Competitions. The team is selected and supported by Northern Cape Cricket and plays its home games at the De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley. At organisational level, Northern Cape Cricket is responsible for the administration and development of cricket in the province and among its primary functions are management and promotion of the Northern Cape team.
