Tryfon Tzanetis
Tryfon Tzanetis () was a Greek international football player and a later manager. He was best known as a great figure for AEK Athens during the 30's and 40's, partnering Kleanthis Maropoulos in AEK's front line. Tzanetis also contributed to AEK by coaching the club during the 50's and 60's. Early life Tzanetis was born in 1918 in Smyrna (today's Izmir), from Naxian parents. After the Asia Minor disaster, his family moved to Athens and installed at the district of Nea Ionia. Club career Tzanetis started playing football in 1932 at Eleftheroupoli. In 1933, AEK Athens scouted him and he signed a sport's card with the club. He started from the youth teams of AEK where he was promoted to the first team in 1935, alongside Maropoulos and participated in an official match. He was a member to the great team of the "yellow-blacks" in the late 30s, having teammates, such as Kleanthis Maropoulos, Spyros Sklavounos and Spyros Kontoulis. Smyrna
Smyrna ( ; grc, Σμύρνη, Smýrnē, or , ) was a Greek city located at a strategic point on the Aegean coast of Anatolia. 1938–39 Panhellenic Championship
The 1938–39 Panhellenic Championship was the 10th season of the highest football league of Greece. 14 teams participated, for the first time so many and for the first time from the province. It was held in two groups, Southern Group with 8 and Northern Group with 6 teams, which qualified from the championships of the local associations. World Military Cup
The World Military Cup is a football competition for national military teams. It is organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM). The tournament has been held since 1946 and was originally called the World Military Championship. The name changed for the 2001 edition. When the multi-sport Military World Games was set up in 1995, the football championship was incorporated into it, but it is still being held independently every two years. The 1965–66 Greek Football Cup was the 24th edition of the Greek Football Cup. Foe the second time in three editions, the Cup Final was scratched: AEK Athens were awarded the Cup as the HFF was late to determine a date for the match. Due to Olympiacos having to prepare for the next season's European Cup, the delay meant that Olympiacos would not be able to field a team for the Final. In association football, the formation of a team refers to the position players take in relation to each other on a pitch. Jack Beby
John Victor Beby (23 August 1907 – 1976) was an English footballer who made 157 appearances in the Football League playing as a goalkeeper for Gillingham, Leicester City, Bristol Rovers, Darlington and Exeter City in the 1920s and 1930s. After his playing career ended, he took up coaching. As well as coaching amateur clubs in England, he was manager of Greek club AEK for three years. Personal life Beby was born in Gillingham, Kent, in 1907. As a youngster, he played football for local team Cuxton, and was on the books of Charlton Athletic, before enlisting in the Grenadier Guards. Apart from his military duties, Beby represented his regiment in the shot put, and played cricket, primarily as a bowler, for his regiment and for the Household Brigade.
