Try And Get It
''Try and Get It'' is a 1924 American silent comedy film directed by Cullen Tate and starring Bryant Washburn, Billie Dove, and Edward Everett Horton. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Larry Donovan, owner of a printing business, tells his credit manager Joe Merrill that if he cannot collect a seven-year-old bill for $25.11 against Tim Perrin in a week, he is through. Donovan also tells Glenn Collins that if he does not get Perrin's account within a week, he is through, too. Both young men are thrown out of Perrin's cement yard. Joe goes to a modiste shop owned by Perrin, ready to park there until he receives payment. He makes various attempts to see Perrin, who finally beats him up and wrecks the shop. When Merrill wins the love of Perrin's daughter and, with her connivance, finally secures the payment of the bill, Perrin capitulates and offers him a job. Cullen Tate
Cullen Tate (March 10, 1886 – October 12, 1947) was an American assistant director as well as a director. He was nominated for an Oscar in the dead category of Best Assistant Director at the 1934 Academy Awards for the film '' Cleopatra''. He was also married to actress Bess Flowers with whom he had one daughter. For several years, he often worked with Cecil B. DeMille. He worked on over 35 films from 1917 to 1942. Claudine Rosalie Gras (1 January 1877 – 1 January 1936), professionally known as Rose Dione, was a French-American actress who appeared in numerous silent era and pre-code films. She appeared in more than 60 films between 1910 and 1932. She was born in Dardilly, Rhône in France, and died in Los Angeles, California. Carl Stockdale
Carl Stockdale also known as Carlton Stockdale (February 19, 1874 – March 15, 1953) was one of the longest-working Hollywood veteran actors, with a career dating from the early 1910s. He also made the difficult transition from silent films to talkies. Stockdale was born in Worthington, Minnesota, graduated from Minneapolis Central High School, and attended the University of North Dakota. Before he began working with films, Stockdale was a property man with a repertory theatrical company headed by his brother. He went on to act on stage in repertory theater and in vaudeville. Stockdale was in Hollywood as early as 1913 with a small role in Gilbert M. Anderson's ''Broncho Billy's Last Deed''. He worked with that film franchise for two years before joining D. W. Griffith's film company. He remained busy into the 1940s. His last film was released in 1943.
