Trump Free Speech Rally
The Trump Free Speech Rally was a demonstration organized by Patriot Prayer on June 4, 2017, in Portland, Oregon, in support of President Donald Trump. Several hundred participants gathered, along with a larger group of counter-protesters who organized the Portland Stands United Against Hate Rally outside Portland City Hall (Oregon), City Hall. Police worked to keep the groups separate and closed neighboring Chapman Square where Anti-fascism, anti-fascist demonstrators had gathered. Officers clashed with this particular group of demonstrators, and fourteen people were arrested. Many weapons were confiscated, but there were no reported injuries. Terry Schrunk Plaza
Terry Schrunk Plaza is a park located in Downtown Portland, downtown Portland, Oregon, United States. Description and history Located across from Portland City Hall (Oregon), City Hall, the park is named after former Portland mayor Terry Schrunk and neighbors the Plaza Blocks consisting of Chapman Square and Lownsdale Square. The park is not a city park, but instead owned by the federal government. Schrunk Plaza is across Third Avenue from the Edith Green – Wendell Wyatt Federal Building, and the plaza covers an underground parking structure for that building. That structure was the planned assassination site of Charles H. Turner (attorney), Charles H. Turner in the 1985 Rajneeshee assassination plot, failed plot by members of the Rajneeshees in 1985 to kill Turner, the U.S. Attorney for Oregon who worked in the building. Interstate 5 (I-5) in the U.S. state of Oregon is a major Interstate Highway that traverses the state from north to south.
