Truman Ward Ingersoll
Truman Ward Ingersoll (February 19, 1862 – June 9, 1922) was a photographer in the United States. He is known for the stereoviews he published in the U.S. and other areas. His work included many images of sights in Yellowstone National Park as well as hunting scenes and architectural features. In the early 20th century he also produced half-tone lithoviews. His company was named Ingersoll View Company. The Met has one of his building photographs in their collection and the Getty Museum has a collection of his work. Ingersoll was born to Daniel Wesley and Marion Ward Ingersoll in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Library of Congress also has a collection of his work. Ingersoll is buried at Oakland Cemetery in St. Paul. Truman Smith (officer)
Truman Smith (August 25, 1893 – October 3, 1970) was a U.S. Army infantry officer, military attache, and intelligence officer. He collected valuable intelligence on German military capabilities while serving in Berlin before World War II. During the war, he was a personal advisor to General George C. Marshall. He influenced the establishment of the new Bundeswehr to play a role in the Cold War. Early life and career He was brought up and attended schools in Stamford, Connecticut. Truman Smith
Truman Smith (November 27, 1791 – May 3, 1884) was a Whig member of the United States Senate from Connecticut from 1849 to 1854 and a member of the United States House of Representatives from Connecticut's 4th and 5th congressional districts from 1839 to 1843 and from 1845 to 1849. He also served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1831 to 1832, and in 1834. Biography Smith was born in Roxbury, Connecticut. He was the nephew of Nathaniel Smith and Nathan Smith. Smith completed preparatory studies and graduated from Yale College in 1815, where he was a member of Brothers in Unity. Truman Seymour
Truman Seymour (September 24, 1824 – October 30, 1891) was a career soldier and an accomplished painter. He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War, rising to the rank of major general. He was present at the Battle of Fort Sumter. He commanded the Union troops at the Battle of Olustee, the only major Civil War battle fought in Florida. Early life and career Seymour was born in Burlington, Vermont. The son of a Methodist minister, he attended Norwich University, beginning in 1840. After spending two years at Norwich, Seymour received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated in 1846, ranked nineteenth in a class of fifty-nine graduates. Truman Henry Safford (6 January 1836 – 13 June 1901) was an American calculating prodigy.W. W. Truman Reeves
Truman Reeves (August 17, 1840 – March 8, 1924) was California State Treasurer from 1899 to 1907. He also was a member of the California State Assembly from 1883 to 1887 and treasurer of San Bernardino County (1890–98). He was a Republican. Biography Reeves was born in Chardon, Ohio. He became a watchmaker's apprentice at age 18, and enlisted in the Union Army in 1861. He was promoted from private to lieutenant, and was wounded three times—the last at the Battle of Cold Harbor in 1864, where he lost his left arm. After the war, he was postmaster of Orwell, Ohio until 1868, and was then elected recorder of Ashtabula County, Ohio. In 1867 he married Marion E. McConkey (1845–1930), with whom he raised two children. They moved to San Bernardino, California in 1875, where Reeves worked as a watchmaker and fruit grower. Truman Handy Newberry (November 5, 1864 – October 3, 1945) was an American businessman and political figure. He served as the Secretary of Navy between 1908 and 1909. He was a Republican U.S. Senator from Michigan between 1919 and 1922. Truman Michelson
Truman Michelson (August 11, 1879 – July 26, 1938) was a linguist and anthropologist who worked from 1910 until his death for the Bureau of American Ethnology at the Smithsonian Institution. He also held a position as ethnologist at George Washington University from 1917 until 1932. Michelson studied Indo-European languages, Indo-European historical linguistics at Harvard University, completing his doctoral degree in 1904, with further study at the Universities of University of Leipzig, Leipzig and University of Bonn, Bonn in 1904-1905, followed by study with Franz Boas. Soon after joining the Bureau of American Ethnology, Michelson began an extensive program of field research on North American Indian languages.
