True Traitor, True Whore
''True Traitor, True Whore'' is a full-length album by San Francisco-based one-man black metal band Leviathan. Jef Whitehead, aka Wrest, was arrested on January 9, 2011, on charges of sexual assault and domestic violence. Wrest has confirmed in an interview that the events surrounding his arrest and the accuser inspired the music and theme of ''True Traitor, True Whore''. In May 2012, Wrest was found not guilty of all charges except for one count of aggravated domestic battery. A cassette version of ''True Traitor, True Whore'' was released on Inferna Profundus, limited to 300 copies. Leviathan (band)
Leviathan is an American black metal solo project that started in 1998 by Jef Whitehead under the pseudonym Wrest. On all Leviathan albums, Wrest records all instruments and performs vocals on his own. Despite having early problems with the release of the fourth album ''Massive Conspiracy Against All Life'', it was released March 24, 2008 in Europe and on March 25, 2008 in North America. Additionally, Wrest has collaborated with the band Sunn O))), and he was an active member of the U.S. black metal supergroup Twilight from its formation until it disbanded in 2014. He has stated in interviews that he has been playing drums longer than any other instrument and that the drums are his instrument of choice. Wrest also played and recorded all instruments as well as vocals in his other project, Lurker of Chalice, which had two demos and one full-length album in 2005 released before it was dissolved. Massive Conspiracy Against All Life
''Massive Conspiracy Against All Life'' is the fourth full-length album by San Francisco-based one-man black metal band Leviathan. There was much controversy over the release of this album, which was originally slated for a summer release in 2007. Supposedly Wrest tried to release the album under the Lurker of Chalice moniker via Blake Judd's Battle Kommand Records, and it was originally going to be titled ''Perverse Calculus''. But Moribund's lawyer's issued a cease and desist order. This also affected and delayed the Nachtmystium / Leviathan split album which was to be released on Southern Lord Records in 2007. The vinyl version of ''Massive Conspiracy Against All Life'' was released on May 20, 2008 via Moribund Records. The LP was limited to 500 copies on black vinyl and 500 copies on red vinyl. ''Scar Sighted'' is the sixth full-length album by San Francisco-based one-man black metal band Leviathan. The album was released on March 3, 2015, through Profound Lore Records. The vinyl edition will be released through Jef Whitehead's own label, Devout Records. Three tracks were streamed online prior to the album's official release date. 'All Tongues Toward' was released for streaming on January 15, 'Within Thrall' on February 11, and 'Gardens of Coprolite' on February 23. Critical reception Scar Sighted has received favourable reviews by critics.
